Sunday Post #86 and Stacking the Shelves April 23rd, 2017

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted  @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme.   I'm actually working and making a bit of a dent in the books I've finished that need to be reviewed.  I'm nowhere near being caught up, but I can see a little progress.  One thing that is helping is doing multiple mini-reviews in one post whenever I get a chance.  I've also added a second notebook that works kind of like a calendar, but it keeps track of my books and what day I need to read them by as well as a list of what books I've read for the month.  Here is a look at it:

It's numbered to 28 on every page, and then there is room to add a 29 and 30 at the bottom. The only problem is months with 31 days, but as you can see for May in the picture above, I've figured it out.

Here is a close up of the May TBR side of the notebook.  This helps me to look at a straight list of what order I need to read things.  Usually the date that I put them on has to do with when I am part of a blog tour or have promised to read and review it by.

I'm showing a close up of my April's finished page, since it isn't May yet, I don't have anything on this page yet.  But as I read and finish a book, I write it on the list, and then as I post a review, I cross it out.  This could also be helpful for end of the month posts.

Anyway on with the normal parts of this post.

Here's what you might have missed on the blog last week:
So I definitely got in more than the 3 reviews a week that I hope to get this week.  Sure a lot of them were mini-reviews, but that's okay!  Once again I'm trying not to overbook myself, so hopefully in May I'll get my posts cut down to only two a day, if not only one.  Or else a promo post and one personal post like a review, meme, etc.  I was caught up for a few days this week, but now, after this one goes live, I'll have no posts ready to go for the rest of the week. Although I intend to work on some of those later today.  I'm caught up on my Camp NaNoWriMo as I had Friday off, and Saturday, and today!  So lots of time to keep up and get ahead on my writing as well.  And I still have a giveaway going on till the end of the month!

Coming up this week on the blog:
  • Promos:  Royal Mistake by Erin Hayes, Hide From Me by Mary Lindsey, Tell Me How This Ends by Victoria De La O, No Relationship Required by Amelia James, YORK:  The Shadow Cipher by Laura Ruby, Shopping For a CEO's Wife by Julia Kent, Karma by Cynthia Vespia, and Dangerous Interference by B.J. Wang
  • Can't Wait Wednesday
  • Reviews:  Forks, Knives, and Spoons by Leah DeCesare, The Makeup Test by Vanessa M. Knight, Missing by Kelley Armstrong, and Blacksouls by Nicole Castroman
  • Possible Reviews:  Driven series #1-3.5 by K. Bromberg (audiobook), Facade by Nyrae Dawn
So, I have 4 reviews I have to do for blog tours or publisher and author requests.  Then I'm hoping to get some other past completed books done.  I've also got several ARCs I need to get read before next week!  Gah!  So I've been working on doing lots of reading, a lot of staying up late at night.  Oh well.  There's only like 23 days left of school, so I can make it through those without a lot of sleep, right?  My sister who lives in NYC will be home next weekend for her birthday, so I'll have a KC Royals baseball game to go to Friday night after work, and then Saturday will be her birthday party with family.  And I'll have to work next Sunday too.  Plus, I've got to finish up my 30,000 word goal for Camp NaNoWriMo.  I only work one night this week at the bookstore, so hopefully I'll have lots of time to write.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews.  It is a way for us to share the new books we have collected. As usual I have way too many free new e-books to share.  Honestly, I may never share those again at the rate I keep downloading them.  I also had a pretty slow week for physical books as well, although I do still have some to share.

Physical books:

I won these from one of the authors in the YA Spring Scavenger Hunt.  Awesome books!  I've already read The Heir and the Spare, but I didn't have a copy of it, so now I do!

I also bought a copy of the book that the students at the school where I am a librarian put out this year.

E-galleys:

The first one I've already read and will be reviewing in another week.  The last one I will be trying to get read by later this week!

So those are the books I've added to my shelves this week.  What have you added to your shelves?

Sunday Post #85 and Stacking the Shelves April 16th, 2017

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted  @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme.   As always, or what seems to have become my always, I am behind on doing my weekly posts like this, as well as many reviews.  Not to mention several ARCs that I was sent by publishers and I didn't get read before they were published.  :-(  So, there are some things I'm thinking about to get better about that, such as being done with my second job.  Another issue this month is that I'm trying to participate in Camp NaNoWriMo and work on getting my novel from NaNoWriMo continued, if not finished, so that does take away some normal blogging time.  Anyway, both need to be done!  But let's get going on this post.

Last two weeks on the blog:
As you can see, I did a TON of promo posts. That is one thing I'm going to try to cut back to only one a day again.  Not that those are really what was costing me a lot of time, especially since they are almost always premade.  I had an issue at the bookstore where I work this past week that also made me more intent on figuring out my budget so that I can stop working two jobs finally.  In other news, I got selected to be a volunteer at Apollycon 2018 which will be in Washington D.C.  So now I've got to work on saving money for the hotel, flight, etc.  Makes a difference in the whole second job thing too.  Went to the eye doctor and I am going to have to buy reading glasses, and I had to order a pair of bifocals, or progressive lenses.  I'm actually excited for them though, I picked out some cool frames, and anything that will help me with reading is an important thing!

Coming up this week on the blog:
  • Promos:  Two Times Slain by Felisha Antonette, Letting Love Go by Katherine LeBoeuf, How We Fall by Melissa Toppen, Tethered by Jenn Marie, Love Me by Anna Brooks, Last Semester by Corine Mekaouche,  and Teenage Psychic on Campus by Pamela Woods-Jackson
  • April Freebie Fair and Giveaway - Monday, April 18th
  • Author Spotlight:  Amy Gale
  • Can't Wait Wednesday
  • Review:  Game Ender (Game #4) by BJ Harvey
  • Possible reviews:  Lifeblood by Gena Showalter, Nothing More and Nothing Less by Anna Todd, Wrong by Jana Aston, Facade by Nyrae Dawn, Every Little Thing by Samantha Young, Riveted by Jay Crownover, and Burned by Elisa Dane
Still working on Camp NaNoWriMo, even did a little writing while working at the cash registers at the bookstore tonight.  I was on track, but had no time to write this weekend, so I'm a bit behind, but I plan to get caught up this week.  I hope.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews.  It is a way for us to share the new books we have collected. As usual I have way too many free new e-books to share.    I still haven't had a chance to get out my Apollycon swag.  Crazy busy as always.  I'm going to try again to cut back on buying books.  Part of that has to do with the whole issues last week at the bookstore.  Okay, here we go really quickly with my new books over the past two weeks.

Physical books:

Both of these I got through books for trade in a group on Facebook.  You do not know how excited I am to have Now I Rise.  Squeeeee!!!!

I won these two books from an extra giveaway during the Spring YA Scavenger Hunt.  Very excited!

These three are the ones I got through the Great Paperback Pay it Forward group on Facebook.

E-galleys:

So excited for all of these!!!

I'm sure there is a ton more I could share, but it is almost 10 pm here, so I should get to bed!  What did you add to your shelves the past weeks?

Sunday Post #84 and Stacking the Shelves April 2nd, 2017

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted  @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme.  I am so crazy behind on blogging!  Right now I've got four books that I really need to get read by Tuesday, which obviously is not going to happen!  I"m working on it, but it's not really happening.  Gah!  As awesome as Apollycon was, the lack of time for reading really killed me!  Unfortunately, due to time again, I will not be able to put in a bunch of pictures from Apollycon in this post, but hope to do that this week.

Posts from the last two weeks:
I've got so many blitzes lined up, I've really got to go back to not doing more than one a day.  I only got one post with a review last week, so I need to really get that taken care of as well.

Coming up this week on the blog:
  • Promos:  Checked into Love by Rochelle Paige - Author Interview, Perfect by Cecelia Ahern - Release Blitz, The Castle by Skye Warren - Release Blitz, Lyrics Heart and Soul by Anne Marie Citro - Author Interview, Checkmate Duet Boxed Set by Kennedy Fox - Release Day Blitz, Blacksouls by Nicole Castroman - Top 10 Pirate Words, The Rainbow Clause by Beth Bolden, Tiago by Catia Skye, The Billionaire Duke by Gina Robinson
  • Reviews:  Dangerous Rock by Crystal Kaswell, Toward a Secret Sky by Heather Maclean, The Returned by Kimberley Griffiths Little
  • Possible Reviews:  Keeping the Beat by Marie Powell and Jeff Norton, Blood Rose Rebellion by Rosalyn Eves, The Sacrifice of Sunshine Girl by Paige McKenzie, Nothing More and Nothing Less by Anna Todd, Zenn Diagram by Wendy Brant, and/or Head-Tripped by Nicole Archer
  • Can't Wait Wednesday
  • Cover Characteristic:  People sitting in a field of grass
  • Maybe a February/March month end wrap-ups
  • Maybe an Apollycon 2017 post
So, another busy week coming up.  Plus, I'm going to attempt to participate in Camp NaNoWriMo during April.  We get to set our own goals instead of the 50,000 word from November's NaNoWriMo.  So I've set a goal of at least 30,000 words, hopefully finishing one of the two main novels from past NaNos that I got good starts on and really do want to finish and try to maybe self-publish as e-books on Amazon just to see what anyone thinks of them.  I haven't done any writing yet for April, but I hope to go to the library tomorrow night and get at least 3,000 words done to catch up!

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews.  It is a way for us to share the new books we have collected. As usual I have way too many free new e-books to share.   I had planned to spread out all the swag I got at ApollyCon, but I will wait till my actual post for that.  Here are the physical books I got this past week:

Purchased:

I purchased the first two from the bookstore where I work to get signatures at Apollycon.  However, I didn't end up taking the JLA book, just decided I had too many.  The other one I got some signatures in, but not all the authors I wanted, including JLA.  The other two are books that I bought at Apollycon just to get the authors' signatures.  Purchasing the last one is how I ended up winning the ones you see in the next picture.

Won at Apollycon:

When you bought a book from SL Jennings, she put your name in a raffle to win a Kindle.  Well, she also had a set of one of her series that she was giving away, and I won that!

Free at Apollycon:

The first two came either in a swag bag at one of the events, or there was also a table with some free books that I grabbed one of them off of.  The Dead List came in a swag bag from the Q and A Panel with JLA on Friday night of ApollyCon.

Stripped Covers:

These two were books that were being returned, and for paperbacks usually that means the store strips the covers and sends those back to the publisher to show that they didn't sell them, but then we throw away/recycle the actual book.  So these are two I wanted to read.

Free for participating in an Irish Banana Tour:

I also got the e-galley of this for a tour that I'll be reviewing on at the end of the month.  But now I'll just read the actual book.

E-galleys:

Jester is actually an audiobook that I do need to listen to for a review.

Whew.  Okay, that's most of what I got this week and added to my shelves.  What did you add this week?
