It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - September 8th, 2014

Last week:

Well, first of all, I started my 3rd annual September is for Sequels Challenge since it is now September.   Along with that was the September is for Sequels Giveaway Hop that I am co-hosting with I Am a Reader.  The last one of those is my first entry into my Sequels Challenge.  With my sequels challenge it is kind of putting a bit of a dent into my reading plans for ARCs and E-galleys.  But I'll explain more when I get to the plans for this week.

Currently reading:

I am currently reading Unravel Me (Shatter Me #2) by Tahereh Mafi for my September is for Sequels Challenge.  It's 400 pages, so is taking me a day or two to get through it.  

This week:

As I mentioned, I'm trying to get my sequels done, plus I'm participating in Tressa at Wishful Endings's Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon this week and next.   So that is keeping me from reading some of my e-galleys/ARCs.  I really want to read my ARC of Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld this week, but I may wait till I'm done with the challenge because it is like 600 pages long!  So here are my planned reads, once I finish Unravel Me:

• H2O by Virginia Bergin
• Asunder (New Soul #2) by Jodi Meadows 
• Tear You Apart (Beau Rivage series) by Sarah Cross OR   Sever (The Chemical Garden #3) by Lauren DeStefano

Of course, how many I get through depends on how quickly I finish them, as they are all between 300-400 pages, and I seem to have more and more to do now that school is back in.  Plus I have to take a Praxis test tomorrow night for my library job, Kansas won't just transfer my Missouri library/teaching license since I didn't have the library experience before I came here.  So I have to take the Praxis.  Which means I should really only be studying that tonight, and not doing any reading.  (Yeah right, like that's going to happen)

September is for Sequels Giveaway Hop

I'm excited to once again be hosting the September is for Sequels Giveaway Hop with Kathy at I Am a Reader.  It was exactly one year ago that I co-hosted a hop with Kathy, and I'm glad to get to do this with her once again.  It also coincides with my 3rd Annual September is for Sequels month long reading Challenge.  Go HERE if you are interested in joining in.  It's really simple, and there is even a prize associated with that for people who participate.  This hop started because of the challenge that I started 3 years ago.  The goal is to catch up on those sequels that often get set on the TBR pile due to all the new books bloggers get to read.  My goal was to try to get as many of those read in September as possible.  So along with that theme, this is a giveaway where you can win a sequel in any series you want from The Book Depository, and it is international as long as they deliver to your country.  Because this is a sequels hop, you cannot pick the first book in a series, but any one from the 2nd on to whatever number that series is on now!  It does need to stay below $20 though.

September is for Sequels Giveaway Hop Sign-ups

For my 3rd annual September is for Sequels Challenge, which I'll post the sign-ups for later this week, I'm once again co-hosting a September is for Sequels Giveaway Hop with Kathy from I Am A Reader.  I think I fixed the button problem for the challenge this year, it should be a better size this time.

You see, I noticed two years ago that I had a bunch of sequels to books that I'd been allowed to read the first book as an ARC or e-galley, and then just hadn't time to read the sequels due to reading more first in the series books. So I set a goal for myself of reading sequels in September, and you can sign up to join into the Challenge HERE.  Now, the idea of September wasn't actually mine, I got it from Em's Book Reviews.  So for the Giveaway, these are the rules if you want to join:

• The book must be a sequel in a series, can't be the first one, but it can be any number from 2 on.  It doesn't matter if you  offer a physical copy or an e-book, as long as it is part of series.
• Your giveaway post must include the hop image and linky, or at least a link to one of the hosts' sites if you can't get the linky to work.
• Please only 1 mandatory entry.  All the others must be optional.  Try not to have a huge list, probably no more than 5 or 6 entries possible. 
• Your post must be live by 12:01 EST on September 2nd (That is 9 pm September 1st if you live in California).
• Please include September is for Sequels in your title, and the giveaway must be for this Hop exclusively.
• Your site must be family friendly – no erotica or 18+ sites. Your site & giveaway must be free of steamy images and book covers. If it would embarrass me to have my teenagers see it, it can’t be on your site.
• It is your responsibility to check the linky on September 2nd to be sure you are still on the linky and that your link is accurate. Please send Lisa a direct link to your post when it goes live to buffywnabe@gmail.com.  
• If you are using Rafflecopter set it to begin on September 1st and to end on September 10th, 12:01 AM.

Best of 2013 Giveaway Hop

Banned Book Weeks Hop 2013

Thanks to Kathy at I Am a Reader, and Mary at Bookhounds for hosting this blog hop.  Since I have a display up for Banned Book Weeks in my library, I felt it would be good to participate in this as well.  Banned Books Week is something the American Library Association (ALA) began to raise awareness of the censorship of books.  You can go to their website HERE, to learn more about it.  I also really enjoyed this top 10 list of stupid reasons for banning books HERE, and even have it listed on my display in my library.  Here's a picture of my display:
