My Review:

I'm not really that much of a fan of older man romances, but for the most part, this one worked for me.  Like most of the others in this series that I have read so far, it was another quick and easy read.  I honestly liked how this one seemed so much more realistic in the amount of time it took for them to actually get together, or should I say in the amount of time for them to kind of feel like a couple, and act like it. Even though they were still trying to keep it secret, from Elena's dad of course, who starts out right away warning them away from each other, and of course also trying to keep it secret, for the most part from Brent's daughter.  However I feel like Brent definitely had the right amount of protesting that what they were doing could be wrong with the age difference, but not to a ridiculous amount. When he did get over that, the other obstacles had to do with the fact that Elena was still going to finish school and what would she do for her job after that, and then he didn't want to get his daughter's hopes up and have Elena leave like the mother of his daughter had before.  I like that Elena still looked into how she could stay there and also continue on with her schooling and meet the goals that she had for herself.  That was very mature, and to me very realistic.  Elena's father also was exactly how I'd picture my own family members behaving about someone in the same situation.  That even though they had misgivings over the age difference, etc., her father knew Brent, knew he was a good guy, and knew that Elena would be great with him and his daughter.  And that's something that I loved about this one for sure.  We also got a little bit of a catch up with each of our other couples, and that was great as well, since this is the last one.  

 

If you're looking for some quick, easy, romantic with a bit of sexy tales, this should be at the top of your list.  While I haven't read every single one in the series, all of the ones I have read are worth it for sure.  At some point I'll  probably go back and read the ones I missed. Especially since Elena's father was one of them, and I missed that story thanks to other blogging obligations at the time it was out.

 

As with some of the other books in the series, this one of course also put a song in my head every time I read the title. So let's share that ear worm with this video.

LIGHT MY FIRE_AN

My Review:

This book was a hard one to rate.  While it took half the book for them to really get together, as soon as they did, it was a night of sex and then they were a couple immediately the next day. Which, yay, it should always be like that, but it made quite a jump for me to believe.  I liked the connection between Beverly and Griffin, and even though we'd met them before in other parts of this series, it still felt like we missed out on a lot for this.  I wanted a whole book dedicated to all of their time together.  More with Griffin's back story.  More with Beverly's story before they got together.  Missing out on those things, or at least feeling like they were missing made the ending feel a little off as well.  I had trouble believing that Griffin would go to quite the extreme he did without more.  

This was a very quick read, almost felt shorter than the others have been. It's definitely worth a read.  I liked it, don't get me wrong.  If you take one thing away from this review, know that I would be happy to read this story again, fleshed out with all the things that I felt were missing.  I'd love if the author had time for that!

IN TOO DEEP_AN

My Review:

So, this was definitely a good read, had steamy scenes, and some emotional ones as well.  It was also another quick read, had me flipping pages (electronically) to keep reading and finding out what was going to happen.  Matthew is so perfect for this type of a fake-dating scenario.  Although he is nervous ahead of each meeting with Hannah's parents, he seems to be really great at thinking on his feet in a manner that saves him and Hannah from most of the questions and accusations her parents attempt in order to split them up, and keep Hannah from her money.  Although I have to wonder, why in the world are they dragging their feet so much?  I really liked Matthew when we got to know him in his sister's book, and I definitely like him more after this book.  I love all the connections to the other stories we get in these books, and I look forward to the last two books and who we will see getting together.  Only one really big question/issue I had with this one.  It mentioned that Hannah had been with a woman last time she'd been home to visit her parents, and that's why they'd had the issue with who she brought home and giving her trust fund to her.  So, was she trying to shock them back then?  Bi-sexual?  Or what?  I'd like some more details about that, and how she is now into a guy, if she'd been into a woman before.

My Review:

As with all the other books I've read in this series so far, this was a very quick and easy read.  I was excited because our heroine, Selma, was going to go to Scotland. But I was a little unsure how that would work with the whole Man of the Month contest at the bar and the rest of the cast of this series.  In the end I had nothing to worry about, as the author ended up keeping the story going right where we wanted it to be.  The passion was very hot in this story, I loved how it got started right away.  While Easton started out as a little bit stuffy and I was a little shocked that he was going to be so easily able to resist. But then, when he gave in, it was perfect.  I like that the whole relationship went smoothly, for the most part, even though they had to keep it on the down-low because of the fact that Easton was planning to run for an elected position as a judge.  

I could tell though that wasn't really what he wanted to do.  And it was obvious that Selma didn't really want to sell her company since she kept putting all the caveats on the contract she was trying to push through with the buyers.  Finally, I loved the way that Easton decided to do his groveling.  It was perfect for the series.  I look forward to Matthew's story next I believe!

Also, because this song kept going through my head every time I thought about the title to this one, I'll share the video of the earworm that this title infected me with.

“What’s with you?” Amanda asked as they settled in at one of the two-tops near the bar. “You’ve gone from perky to pensive. Something wrong? Or is it hormones? I know it’s not Reece.” 

At the mention of his name, Jenna’s mood lifted. “No,” she agreed. “Not a thing wrong there. Right, peanut? Your daddy’s pretty much perfect.” She smiled down at her belly, and when she looked up, a minor miracle took place. Not only did Eric deliver her drink that very second, but Reece stepped out of the back hallway and entered the bar at the far end of the room. 

He was yards and yards away from her, but it didn’t matter. Even across the cavernous bar—even despite the happy hour crowd that filled the room and kept blocking him from her sight—even then, she could feel him. Could sense him. 

The heat of him. The power. The strength…and the tenderness. 

With his shaved head, shadowy beard, broad shoulders, and rock hard muscles, Reece Walker was the kind of man who never lacked for attention. My rating:  3 stars

I was a bit confused at the beginning of this one, but soon I figured out that this story actually takes place before the other stories I've read so far. And it leads up into where we've already read.  Unfortunately this one wasn't quite as hard to put down as the others had been.  I did like the characters, but probably I had the confusion at first from when it was taking place that distracted me.  It was the common story line of the woman not wanting more than a casual relationship, based on what she'd had in the past.  I do have to say that I did really enjoy when we got towards the end of the book and suddenly I was seeing  how all the characters from past books fit together, and how they knew each other, and even how some of the events from past stories came about.  Once again though, the epilogue was not someone I knew off the top of my head as well.  But I will look forward to reading on and getting more stories and seeing who the other winners of the calendar contest will be.  The title of this one didn't quite strike a familiar chord with me for a song.  Do you know what song it might be?

My Review:
My rating:  4 stars

Another quick, hard to put down read.  This one had quite a bit more suspense in my opinion, as you had a possible stalker, and other more serious issues than maybe the others I read.  There were a lot of little hints and details that pointed you in directions you didn't know you would be taken.  But in the end it was basically what was expected, and Parker and Megan get their HEA.  Once again I'll mention that I love all the connections to the characters from earlier stories, as well as setting us up for future books in the series.  I haven't been able to read all of them so far, due to other blogging and review commitments, but I hope I will have time to go back and read those as well, because I want to know all about these characters.  I'm happy that for sure I'll be reading the next one, as it fit into my review schedule.  One complaint about this one, I feel it all did kind of wrap up a little too quickly.  And the only other issues is that I was just as frustrated as Megan when they got to New Orleans.  I mean, that is not at all how he had played his interest!  Now, because I mentioned it last time, and it is still happening to me, I thought I'd share the ear worm that this book's title gave me with the video below.  Enjoy!
