Sunday Post #35 and Stacking the Shelves September 6th, 2015

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted  @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme.

 Last week on the blog:
Only two reviews this week, and one wasn't a book that I loved.  I did get some other books read, but didn't have time to fit in the reviews this week.  So those will be happening next week.  My giveaway started on Monday, and will finish up this coming Tuesday, be sure to click on the link above and enter!  For my Fit Blogger update, I only got two days of 3 miles walked this past week, but that's okay.  I'll be off to a good start this coming week I hope. With tomorrow off from work, I intend to go walk for sure.  I've finished one book for my sequels challenge in the first week of September, the review will be next week.  I've also got to think about getting things read and with November coming up, I'll be doing NaNoWriMo again, so that will cut into some reading time.  Had a great writing date with my writer friend this morning.

In other big news, I got selected to be part of author Victoria Scott's Titans Jockeys to help promote her new book.  You can see the button on my right side bar.

This week on the blog:
  • Reviews:  Audiobook of Fallen by Lauren Kate, Arianna's Destiny by Michelle Sodaro
  • Promo Post:  Bleed by Dax Varley
  • Top 10 Tuesday
  • Waiting on Wednesday
  • Possible reviews:  Dark Shimmer by Donna Jo Napoli, Prodigy by Marie Lu
  • Possible Cover Characteristic post
I've really got to get 2 sequels read this week to get caught up on my challenge goal of 8 for the month.  I also at some point want to join into the Series Ender Challenge, so I may do a sign-up post for myself in the next couple of weeks as well.  Trying to not stress over the review books I didn't get to, and working on not requesting a bunch of new ones.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews.  It is a way for us to share the new books we have collected.  As it was still part of August, and I had a book buying ban, there wasn't much purchased, other than I did go to the Dollar Tree Store and buy some books for my school library, good books, one was from the House of Night series by P.C. Cast!  Without further ado, here is my haul for the week:

Physical books:

The first one I got as a book for trade on Twitter.  The second one was a strip from the bookstore where I work. The third one is an ARC that I also got from the bookstore.

E-galley:
I got approved for this one egalley on Edelweiss.  I did good only asking for this one!

Free e-books:

The top three were all on Amazon, the bottom two were from Barnes and Noble.

So those are my new additions to my book shelves.  What's new on your shelves this week?

Sunday Post #28 and Stacking the Shelves May 31st, 2015

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted  @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme.
Last two weeks on the blog:
I got a total of 3 reviews a week for the last two weeks, although one was a mini-review of a sampler, and another was a review of an audiobook.  Hoping to keep that up this summer now that school is out.  I didn't blog every day though. Even though I'm out of school, I've asked for more hours at my part time job at the bookstore, and I have been going back into my school to do inventory in the library.  I joined the COYER Challenge again to try to get more of my ebooks read!  I was on vacation over Memorial Day weekend as well, so didn't stress too much about getting reviews done while I was there.

This week on the blog:
  • Review and Blog Tour for The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes
  • Review:  The Rose Master by Valentino Cano
  • Possible Reviews:  Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan or The Stars Never Rise by Rachel Vincent
  • Waiting on Wednesday
  • Maybe Cover Characteristic:  green covers
  • Maybe Top 10 Tuesday
For once I don't have a whole bunch of things planned for the blog this week.  And I actually only have a couple of egalleys to review in the next week or so.  And I'm hoping to get lots of reading done this week.  I"m also listening to another audio book, and if I get out and walk this week, I'll probably continue listening to it.  May get it done and reviewed, but we'll see.

My fit/walking goals:
As you can tell I haven't done much walking the last two weeks.  Partly from being busy, partly from all the rain.  I hope to get out and get walking this week.  As well as start cooking more healthy food at home instead of eating out all the time.
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews.  It is a way for us to share the new books we have collected.  Let's just say that the last two weeks have been one of the biggest hauls I've had in a long time.  No BEA this year.  :-(  But I got a box of books I won as well as it is our special employee appreciation days at the bookstore, so I get 40% instead of just 30% off of books for the week, and I've already done some buying.

These are all the books from my first employee appreciation days purchase, other than the ones I purchased for the library where I work, here is a list of them:

  • The Walking Dead: The Fall of the Governor Part 2 by Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga - was on the bargain table for $4.98 I think.  With my 40% off it was only like $3.
  • Fierce Reads:  Kisses and Curses  I saw this one and had to have it!
  • Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King - My mom got this on her Nook, but you can't share it.  And, we own all the other Stephen King books, so I went ahead and bought it with my really great discount.
  • Write it Down, Make it Happen by Henriette Anne Klauser - A friend said this was really helpful to her when trying to set goals and work to achieve them, as well as not getting frustrated as she worked on them.
  • End of Days by Susan Ee - Since I just finished the 2nd book, I had to move on. This paperback was only $9, so $6 with my discount, I had to go ahead and get it.
  •  As you can see I got two bobble heads, Mulder and Scully from The X-Files, one of my favorite shows of all time, again at 40% off.
  • I also got a really funny bookmark that says "My workout is reading in bed until my arms hurt."

I won a box of YA books from  The Novel Hermit in the Spring Cleaning Giveaway Hop.  Here's a list of them:

I also won a copy of Vostok by Steve Alten, a favorite author of mine, from iRead Book Tours.

Even though I have an e-galley of Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella, when I saw a physical ARC on the table at the bookstore for us to take, I had to grab it.  Here is a blurry photo of the ARC and to the left of the picture, a fancy little box it came in.

E-books:

The first two are egalleys I got from Edelweiss, the third one was a free Kindle book.

So, tons of physical books the past two weeks, not so many e-books/galleys, so good thing for the most part.

What did you add to your shelves this week?

Sunday Post #25 and Stacking the Shelves May 3rd, 2015

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted  @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme.

Last Week on the Blog:
So I made it all the way through the A to Z Challenge!  Yay!  I'm kinda glad to be done though.  Back to my normal blogging, and being able to do some of my regular meme type posts again.  Besides those mini-reviews, I still got two other reviews done during the week.  I did not get any post done last Sunday though, so today's Stacking the Shelves is probably going to be pretty long!

This Week on the Blog:
  • Review:  A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
  • Book Blitz:  Halfway Perfect by Julie Cross and Mark Perini
  • Cover Reveal:  Diamonds are Forever by Michelle Madow
  • Waiting on Wednesday
  • Book Blitz:  Ghosts of July by Megan Applegate
  • Possible Reviews:  Ice Kissed (Kanin Chronicles #2) by Amanda Hocking or Cleo by Lucy Coats
A pretty busy week coming up!  There's actually one other egalley I might try to get read this week, but haven't decided which egalley sounds best yet.  I've got to get some reading done and I'm really trying to get all my Netgalley books read on time. But since I download them to my Kindle app, and they never really expire that way, it's hard to not jump ahead to the Edelweiss galleys that will expire. So the books I read this week may change due to that.

My Fit/Walking Goal
Well, last week was not good.  I had a few days where I got 10,000 steps in, but it was only because of working at the bookstore.  I just didn't get out to walk as much as I'd have liked to.  One nice thing, at our Wednesday afternoon professional development meeting this past week, we got to go outside and so I got a mile walked around the school track that day.  I did learn that maybe I'll just bring my walking clothes and get my walking in at school before I head home, so that I don't have the excuses to not walk once I get home.  I also found a Run, Walk, Run program I might try to see if maybe at some point I can get to running.  I don't know how I'll get 20 miles a week in during the school year right now, just too many things going on.  But I'd like to try to at least get out and walk for at least a half hour 3 days a week.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews.  It is a way for us to share the new books we have collected.  Now, keep in mind that what I list below is for the last two weeks.  So it is a lot!

E-galleys:

All but the last two are from Edelweiss.  The last two come from Netgalley.  I've got to hurry up and read my ARC of The Messenger of Fear by Michael Grant so that I can read my egalley of The Tattooed Heart.  Very excited about all of these!

Physical Books:

The first one is a stripped cover from the bookstore where I work.  The second one was an unsolicited ARC from the publisher, Sourcebooks.  The last one is an ARC that I won from Brittany at Brittany's Book Rambles

Free e-books:

All free.  Will see when or if I get to them!

So, whew!  Too many added, who knows when I'll ever get to them!!  But they're there in case I get in the mood to read them.  What did you add to your shelves this week?

Now I'm off to walk today.  I'll be back to go comment on other blogs later today!
