Book Blitz with Review: Love, Luck, and Clusterf*ck (Legal #3) by Bree Dahlia

Book info:
Title:  Love, Luck, and Clusterf*ck
Author:  Bree Dahlia
Series:  Legal #3
Publication date: August 14th, 2017
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Romance
Synopsis:
From the author of the Legal series comes a hot and hilarious new STANDALONE.
I met him on the luckiest day of the year.
Of course, I wasn’t aware of his true identity at the time. I only knew him as the arrogant blond god who gave me a shamrock necklace. For luck.
As if I needed it.
Okay, maybe I did. But it was presumptuous of him to assume I wanted his help – all because he made it his business to pry into my personal conversation.
I, Perry Sommers, want a life makeover.
I want to stop being so impulsive and start acting like a grown up.
I want to settle down and have a real relationship, instead of a series of clusterf*cks.
I want to fall in love. Just not with this man.
But love isn’t fair. It doesn’t care if someone is off-limits, and Stephen Davidson definitely is. I can handle that. Our intense chemistry tests me on a near constant basis. I can handle that too.
What I can’t handle is how much I’ve come to need him in my life. I never expected this infuriating hard-ass to become my best friend, but now that he has, I never want to let him go.
I can’t destroy the bond we share, but there is only so much a woman can take before she breaks.
Before she throws it all away for one perfect night.
** This friends to lovers standalone takes place six years before Legal. It does not need to be read in conjunction with the others in the series. **

My Review:
My rating:  4 stars
I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, Legal, and Lyrical.  And while this book takes place in the same world, it is definitely not one you have to read the other two before.  I was very excited for this story because you really get to know Perry in the first two books, and it was a lot of fun getting to see how she actually got together with Jillian's brother Stephen.  I mean, you really do love Perry in the first two books.  At least I pretty much did.

Now, in this book, I did get a little irritated with her, and that is probably the only reason I dropped this to a 4 star instead of a 5, because like with the first two books, I was barely able to put this one down.  I'd be sitting in a meeting and wondering when I could get back to reading it.  The reason I got so irritated with Perry is because here is this guy that she's been seeing, casually, a friend with benefit you might say, who has decided he wants to be serious.  And even though for some reason she doesn't seem to even want to have sex with him anymore, she keeps giving him a chance.  Seriously, as much as she could tell from the feelings she got, I don't understand why she stayed with him.  It's not like she had asked him to be serious, or that she even necessarily wanted it.  So I feel like that was a bit of stupidity on her part.

However, I could totally understand her frustration with Stephen (Jillian's brother), and why she fought things with him at first.  And then at the end, I could understand how she was wondering if he still was interested in more than friends, and also her worrying about losing him as a friend if she tried to go for more.  You've probably heard me talk about how I get irritated with that last little misunderstanding that happens in romances, how by that time they are totally being ridiculous with not trusting. But the way it happens in this one, for both of them, well, it totally made sense to me.  I could see both of their sides.

The story did keep me going wondering just what was up with her best friend at the time, Christa, as well as why she couldn't get on board with actually being with Dre.

In the end it was so much fun to see Perry and Stephen's romance unfold.  I look forward to reading more by this author in the future, and think you should totally pick up her books today!

Review: Lyrical (Legal #2) by Bree Dahlia

Book info:
TitleLyrical
Author:  Bree Dahlia
SeriesLegal #2
Genre:  adult, comedy, romance, older woman younger man
Published:  March 15th, 2017
Source:  Received e-galley from author for honest review
My rating:  5 stars

Just like with the first book, Legal, I was hooked.  I love the idea of the older woman/younger man story just because I have always been attracted to younger men.  I was so glad to hear that Jillian and Chase were getting another story, because I wanted to see exactly just where this story could go.  Could they actually last past the novelty of such a relationship?  Well, this book starts up showing that yes, they can.  But now the little hitch in the whole HEA is that Jillian's son(stepson) is coming home from school. Why is that an issue? Well, he's basically the same age as Chase.  At first it seems as if her son Daniel is okay with Chase.  Even though her ex is still being a jerk about it.  But soon Jillian sees there is a difference in Daniel, right about the time he brings a date to family get together and it is Cassie, the woman that tried to come between Chase and Jillian in the first book.  Cassie seems to want to just be with Daniel.  And Daniel seems to really like her.  So Jillian tries to give her the benefit of the doubt, even though she and Perry, her best friend/brother's fiancee, still don't quite trust Cassie.

Soon it seems Daniel has changed his opinion about Chase.  And things all come to a head about the time of Perry's bachelorette party.  While strippers/hookers end up at the bachelor party, and then when Perry gets sick and goes back to her hotel room, Jillian follows her, only to have a stripper show up in their room and try to do his little performance on Jillian.

Someone gets pictures of Jillian when the stripper is there, and also things are leaked to Jillian about what Chase might have been up to at the bachelor party.  There is one common denominator in all this drama.  When things start to go from bad to worse, Jillian has to decide if she is going to give up this true love that she has with Chase for her stepson, or if her stepson needs to come to terms with her relationship.

I like the way that Jillian handles the whole situation.  I feel like so much was handled realistically in this book for the most part.  The sex scenes were still hot as in the first one.  And I definitely am still in love with Chase.  I'm excited to know tht we will probably get a story about Perry and Jillian's brother soon, as I do love Perry and want more with her.

This is a sweet and fun, yet emotional romance, one I highly recommend.  The first book only got 4 stars from me, but this one was a 5 star.

Taboo. Wrong. Off limits.
I know the drill. I know the rules.
But damn, if he doesn’t get under my skin.
And into my bed.

There’s no reason for a woman like me,
Successful, established, independent,
To ever be sleeping with a younger man.
A younger man with a hard, rugged, sculptured body.
A body that can go all night.
All night.

I can’t resist, can’t turn him down.
Can’t walk away.

Chase Nolan walked into my life and disrupted my perfect little world.
And made it so much better.

Enjoy it while you can, Jillian.

My Review:
First I have to say thanks to Xpresso book tours for allowing me to read a review copy of this book.  I really ended up enjoying it a lot!  The story was great, the sex scenes were really hot, and I really loved the characters.

I was first drawn to the story because it is about an older woman with a younger man, and I personally like younger men.  So that made the story fun for me.  And man, Chase sounded like a total  hottie!  The first night when they met and had their "one-night stand", wow, that was really sexy and mind-blowing.  Perry is the main character Jillian's best friend, as well as Jillian's brother's girlfriend.  And while I adore Perry, and what a great friend she is, not to mention how snarky and fun she is, if she was my friend?  And she kept putting me in the awkward situations of running into the guy I didn't want to see, or protested that I didn't want to see, well, she and I would have some major words!  Now yeah, I know it was really all for the best, as Chase and Jillian totally belong together.  But still, I was so ready to slap Perry for Jillian!

While I also understood all the reasons Jillian didn't want to have an actual "relationship" beyond friends with benefits with this guy who was 15 years younger than she was, at a certain point her stubbornness just got ridiculous. To the point for me, that even if it was part of the conflict/suspense of the story, I marked it down from a 5 star to a 4 star book.  Or maybe it is a 4.5 star rating for me. Because I really did enjoy this book.  When I would start reading it, it was really hard to stop to do anything else, like work, go to sleep, etc.  I did like the way the author did a last chapter from Chase's viewpoint, and it left me hoping for a sequel.

Grab this book for a fun, sexy read!
