Once again I'm getting behind on reviews! My spring break at school is this week and I'm setting a goal of getting caught up on reviews if at all possible. I'm not sure how exactly I'll do that, but starting tomorrow, I'm going to work on it. Hopefully this will also feed into my Mini Blog Ahead #1 Challenge. I had hoped to wait until I at least got #3 done as well as these 3, but I am going to go ahead and just do these three for now.
Beautiful Bastard #1:
My rating: 5 stars
Okay, I loved this book, as I guess you can tell from my 5 star rating. I listened to it, and I began keeping track of the fact that there was a sex scene in almost every chapter, well, for at least about the first 10 chapters. While many reviews that I saw on Goodreads complained that this book had too much sex, I just have to say that I thought it was kinda funny, and totally fit the story, made it into its own story. Something else I found on Goodreads is that this was originally Twilight fan fiction. Well, it sure isn't anymore! Even if it was, who gives a crap? Sorry for that, but sometimes people's problems with things bother me. Either you like the book or you don't. It's a good story, or it's not. There is nothing in this book that reminded me of Twilight in any way, and I love that series! My first tattoo was because of my love for that series. Fan fiction of Twilight is Fifty Shades of Grey. As I read the first book in that series, which was horribly written - my middle schoolers could write better than that, it had so many things that were exactly like the book - or maybe more like the movies actually. Any way, I loved this book. Here is the blurb from Goodreads:
An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling.
Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He's exacting, blunt, inconsiderate—and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.
Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family's massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who'd been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative—completely infuriating—creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he's never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe's so tempting he's willing to bend the rules—or outright smash them—if it means he can have her. All over the office.
As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they're willing to lose in order to win each other.
Originally only available online as The Office by tby789—and garnering over 2 million reads on fanfiction sites—Beautiful Bastard has been extensively updated for re-release.
Beautiful Stranger (Beautiful Bastard #2):
My rating: 5 stars
Once again you can tell I loved this book because of the rating. I mean, how could you not love a book with a tall, British guy, or I think he was Irish actually? It was fun listening to it, probably for that accent when it was Max's narrator's time. They had so much fun in this, and I love that one of the places they went to was the New York Public Library for their sexcapades. Another fun read, and we got to see Bennett and Chloe in this one again. Here's the blurb from Goodreads:
Escaping a cheating ex, finance whiz Sara Dillon’s moved to New York City and is looking for excitement and passion without a lot of strings attached. So meeting the irresistible, sexy Brit at a dance club should have meant nothing more than a night’s fun. But the manner—and speed—with which he melts her inhibitions turns him from a one-time hookup and into her Beautiful Stranger.
The whole city knows that Max Stella loves women, not that he’s ever found one he particularly wants to keep around. Despite pulling in plenty with his Wall Street bad boy charm, it’s not until Sara—and the wild photos she lets him take of her—that he starts wondering if there’s someone for him outside of the bedroom.
Hooking up in places where anybody could catch them, the only thing scarier for Sara than getting caught in public is having Max get too close in private.
Beautiful Secret (Beautiful Bastard #4):
My rating: 4 stars
This was actually the first book in the series that I read, I found it in the bargain book section at the bookstore where I work. As I started it, I really enjoyed it. So I went ahead and requested the audiobook for the first book at the same time from my library. The more I listened to that one, the less this one blew me away. It was still good, don't get me wrong, but I didn't love it as much as the first two, as well as it didn't make me have trouble putting it away. I am still very excited to read on in this series. Of course I have to go back to book 3, and I am excited to meet this author at ApollyCon in 2 weeks. Here is the blurb for this one from Goodreads:
AN UPTIGHT BRITISH EXECUTIVE. AN ADVENTUROUS AMERICAN NEWBIE. A SEXY INTERNATIONAL SCANDAL IN THE MAKING.
New York Times and #1 internationally bestselling author Christina Lauren’s Beautiful and Wild Seasons series hook up in Beautiful Secret for an erotic intercontinental romp that celebrates the best of both worlds!
When Ruby Miller’s boss announces he’s sending her on an extended business trip to New York City, she’s shocked. As one of the best and brightest young engineers in London, she knows she’s professionally up to the task. The part that’s throwing her is where she’ll be spending a month up close and personal working alongside—and staying in a hotel with—Niall Stella, her firm’s top urban planning executive and The Hottest Man Alive. Despite her ongoing crush, Ruby is certain Niall barely knows she’s alive…until their flirty overnight flight makes him sit up and take notice.
Not one for letting loose and breaking rules, recently divorced Niall would describe himself as hopeless when it comes to women. But even he knows outgoing California-girl Ruby is a breath of fresh air. Once she makes it her mission to help the sexy Brit loosen his tie, there’s no turning back. Thousands of miles from London, it’s easy for the lovers to play pretend. But when the trip is over, will the relationship they’ve built up fall down?
Have you read any of this series? Or anything by this author? I definitely recommend them for a fun, sexy read.
