Blog Tour Author Interview: Cross Crease (On the Edge #3) by Elizabeth Hartey

Book info:
Title:   Cross Crease
Author:  Elizabeth Hartey
SeriesOn the Edge #3
Published by: Limitless Publishing
Publication date: August 20th 2019
Genres: Adult, New Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Sports
Synopsis:
Heaven
I was fourteen the first time I laid eyes on the smoking hot, silver-eyed, goalie. Damon Wolfe was the most gorgeous boy I’d ever seen. All it took was one glance, one sentence and my heart was his. But I was too young and he was too broken.
Seven years later, he’s the biggest off the ice player in the NHL and I’m his virginal best friend.
Of course, I have the perfect solution to that particular problem, but Damon keeps on refusing to be the one to vanquish my chastity. He claims he doesn’t want to ruin our friendship, that he’s not good enough for me. Yet, somehow his eyes say something different whenever he looks at me.
Just one night, that’s all I’m asking.
What’s the worst that can happen?
Wolfe
I was mesmerized by Heaven Andersen the first time I looked into her sparkling turquoise eyes. She was a teenage kid with a mouth full of braces and bruised knees, but she was the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen—like a fairy-tale princess. With one look, she sent all my inner demons running. But she was just a kid and I was too damaged.
Seven years later, she’s my best friend. My best friend with a single-minded mission—to get laid.
She wants me to take her virginity and teach her about sex. But she’s an off-limits, flawless diamond girl, and so far out of the realm of anything my blackened heart is looking for or deserves it’s laughable.
So, how come I’m not laughing? How come my best friend is the first thing I think about in the morning and last thing I think about at night? More importantly, what am I going to do to protect her—from me?

Author Interview:

1.     What does your writing process look like?
I am most definitely a seat of my pantser. I have no idea where my story is going other than knowing there will be a sweet HEA. I have an idea of a story bouncing around in my head keeping me awake at night and distracting me during the day until I sit down to write it. Then I just let the characters take me where they want to go. Sometimes we don’t always agree, which is why some books take longer than others to write. J

2.     Do you edit as you go or wait until you’re finished? How many times do you go over it?
I edit and edit and edit and edit as I go. If it’s been a few days since I’ve had a chance to get back to writing I reread the whole thing up to where I left off before I start writing again. Many times, while in bed, or in the shower or wherever, I’ll get an innate flash that tells me I did a scene wrong or the character said or did the wrong thing. So, I go in and rewrite it.  I may reread a manuscript a zillion times before I send it to an editor. And even after all that a good editor will always find something that needs to be corrected.

3.    Are you part of a writers group that gets together and helps each other with their writing?
Sadly, I’m not part of a writer’s group that gets together and helps each other out. I wish I was. There is nothing more supportive to its members than the writing community. I live in a very small community and don’t have access to any local writing groups. However, social media sites like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook have awesome writing communities.  I’ve made some amazing writer friends and we all support each other every way we can through these sites. Some authors will even take the time to Beta read your manuscript and give you suggestions or cheer you on when you’re feeling insecure about your writing. It’s a wonderful group to be part of and I’m so happy I’ve found them.

4.     What tips do you have for aspiring writers? Being a relatively new published author compared to some authors out there I wouldn’t presume to have the wisdom to guide new aspiring writers. However, I will say this. If you love to write don’t let anyone discourage you. Writing is one of the most wonderful yet difficult things I’ve ever done. Opinions on writing styles as are diverse as there are people reading your work. I sent out hundreds of letters before I found the right publisher for my books. Some people will love your writing some will hate it. The important thing is you love writing it and you love the final product. Just keep doing what you love and you’ll eventually connect with the right people to get your book out in the world.

5.     What are you favorites?
My preferences in book genres and authors are fairly diverse. I’m all about the classics. I have a deep love for the English classics and writers like Charles Dickens, Emily and Charlotte Bronte, Jane Austin to name a few. I also love American writers Tennessee Williams, Edgar Allan Poe, Mark Twain, Louisa May Alcott. I could go on and on. As far as contemporary writers, it’s all about romance for me, both contemporary and historical. L.J Shen, Max Monroe, Helena Hunting, Lauren Blakely. This list is also never-ending. My favorite historical romance writers are Elizabeth Hoyt and Julia Quinn. Hoyt’s Maiden Lane series and Quinn’s Bridgerton series are not to be missed if you love romance.

As far as movies and TV go, again, I’m all about the classics. Anything made between 1939 and 1965 is for me. My favorite TV channels are Turner Classic Movies and Masterpiece Classics on PBS. To throw out a few movie titles there’s Gone With the Wind, Cat On a Hot Tin Roof, Citizen Kane, Rebel Without a Cause, Splendor In the Grass, Sterile Cuckoo, anything from Alfred Hitchcock. Again, the list is unending. As far as current TV shows. I love period pieces like Downton Abbey, Poldark, Upstairs Downstairs, The Crown, Victoria, The Handmade’s Tale (although that would be classified more contemporary or futuristic than period.) And of course, who doesn’t love and miss Game of Thrones?

I also have a pretty diverse music list. I’m not ashamed to admit I love Pop artists like Shawn Mendes, Charlie Puth, One Direction, Seven Seconds of Summer and Julia Michaels. Jason Mraz, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and James Arthur are inspirations to my writing, I’m also a classics lover when it comes to music, Grateful Dead, Jethro Tull, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, The Beatles, Sly and the Family Stone, Joe Cocker, Richie Havens, Melanie. I love me some good old country music too. Garth Brooks is the king. But I also adore Martina McBride, Zac Brown Band, Little Big Town, Rascal Flatts, Florida Georgia Line, Miranda Lambert. And I’m also a lover of Broadway musicals. Those composers and lyricists are nothing short of gifts from God. Gosh, I don’t know how people pick favorites in music there’s a world of beautiful sounds out there. How do you pick just one?

As far as favorite writing snacks. I can’t really eat anything when the muse hits. I have to stay focused. Food is a distraction. Although, I will admit a good cup of coffee or glass or two of wine has found their way onto my desk many times.

Author Bio:
As a lover of the northeast US, my husband and I moved to the Poconos several years ago to open a Chiropractic Clinic. Four children and a menagerie of animals later, I have finally found time to fulfill my lifelong dream of writing novels. A dreamer at heart, romance is---of course---the genre I spend most of my time writing and reading into the wee hours of the morning. However, if it's a good book, any genre can keep me immersed in the story for hours.
When I'm not juggling work responsibilities and writing, I enjoy baking, knitting, traveling, hiking the beautiful hills and woods around my home and spending time with my family.

My Review:
As with the first anthology, I wasn't able to read every single story, so my review will be related just to the ones I was able to read. I did start out thinking I'd be able to read them all, but ran out of time, and so ended up just skipping a few to get to the authors I know and love.

First was The Guy in the Middle by Kate Stewart, and it started off really good, basically an enemies to more type of story, but then, a cliffhanger?  And I need to know about Harper and Lance, that ending!  Guess I'll be waiting for her to put out the rest of the story at some point.

Next was Arena Lights by Mandi Beck, but I didn't get to finish it before I jumped on to a different story. However, it was definitely good, and I'll be going back to finish it when I get the chance!

I jumped ahead to The Teaching Hours by Sara Ney, because I love that series, and I have really wanted to see Rex Gunderson get his own story, and here it is.  Well, I loved it.  I know Rex was a PIA, but in the end, couldn't help but want him to get his own chance.  And love his term, "funcle"-fun uncle.  How do I make a term like that for me being the fun auntie?

After that I read Holt's Story by Meghan Quinn, which I was loving, until she ended with a cliffhanger as well!  Fortunately compared to the first cliffhanger story, this one at least was a sorta happy for now ending, so I can be patient for the conclusion to Holt's story at some point.

Finally I started the story by Ilsa Madden-Mills, Dear Ava, and if I hadn't had to go to bed for work today, a day I have to work both jobs, I might have stayed up until I finished it.  It was emotional and definitely a page-turner.

Definitely going to be highly recommending this one!

About Mandi Beck: Mandi Beck has been an avid reader all of her life. A deep love for books always had her jotting down little stories on napkins, notebooks, and her hand. As an adult she was further submerged into the book world through book clubs and the epicness of social media. It was then that she graduated to writing her stories on her phone and then finally on a proper computer.
A wife, mother to two rambunctious and somewhat rotten boys, and stepmom to two great girls away at college, she shares her time with her husband in Chicago where she was born and raised. Mandi is a diehard hockey fan and blames the Blackhawks when her deadlines are not met even though her favorite hockey player calls her…mom.

Have you heard the rumor around campus about the locker room?

If you haven't, let me enlighten you: Legend has it if you bring a girl into the sacred after-game domain of the baseball locker room, it will end with a walk down the aisle. One rowdy and naked encounter against the lockers with the girl of your dreams will make her your wife.

Translation: baseball players are stupidly superstitious and believe the locker room has magical powers.

But not all baseball players are superstitious, me included.

So when the girl I've fallen for brushes me off, I start to question if I need to switch my way of thinking. Maybe it's time I finally hand out a coveted invitation to the locker room.

The only question is, will she accept?

Cover Reveal: Parental Guidance by Avery Flynn

Parental Guidance, an all-new, sexy and LOL romantic comedy from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Avery Flynn, is coming June 17th and we have the adorable new cover!

ParentalGuidance_1600.jpg

All I want is to play hockey on the Ice Knights, instead, I’m in a viral video for all the wrong reasons and my mom—yes, my mom—has taken over my dating apps. Then, when I think it can’t get any worse, the fates deliver Zara Ambrose, a five-feet-nothing redhead with more freckles than inches and who’d rather be anywhere other than on a date with me.

Now a bet with her friends and my PR nightmare have us both stuck in this go-on-five-dates-with-the-same-person hell situation. But if we band together, we can get the whole thing over with and go on with our lives. It’s perfect! No feelings. No future. No fuc— *ahem* fun. No naked fun.

What could go wrong? Nothing—as long as I remember the rules. Don’t notice the way she looks in a dress. Don’t react when she does that little shivery sigh thing whenever we touch. Don’t think about the fact that she’s never had a toe-curling orgasm that wasn’t self-delivered and just how badly I want to change that.

Five dates—that’s it—and then we go our separate ways. At least, that was the plan.

About Avery
USA Today bestselling romance author Avery Flynn has three slightly-wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip.

She fell in love with romance while reading Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory books. It wasn’t long before Avery had read through all the romance offerings at her local library. Needing a romance fix, she turned to Harlequin’s four books a month home delivery service to ease the withdrawal symptoms. That worked for a short time, but it wasn’t long before the local book stores’ staff knew her by name.

Avery was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs.
