My Review:

I always love contemporary romance from Samantha Young and the synopsis of this grabbed me right away! The story was sweet, and I liked getting both main characters' points of view.  While Parker did irritate me a bit, Rhys had his own issues that bothered me at times as well.  I know that a lot of that is the drama of a romance, as I've mentioned in reviews before, and it's probably what kept me at a 4 instead of 5 stars.  It was an easy read, and definitely had its really good moments.  I think this is my first by Kristen Callihan, and I'll be sure to read more of her books in the future!  As for Samantha Young, she's still at the top of my auto-buy authors list.

AngryTink: Hey. This is Parker. Parker Brown.  

My phone dinged loudly. I fumbled around my bed, finally finding the damn thing under a pillow. Wiping the sleep off my face, I rolled onto my back and read the text that had pulled me out of a pleasant sleep. I smiled. It was just so … Parker. Settling in, I answered her.  

RhysThis: Don’t have to tell me who you are. Your number is programmed on my phone. What do you want?  

AngryTink: Well, good morning to you too, Happy Pants.  

My smile turned into an evil grin. The girl was always going to punch back and make it count.  

RhysThis: That’s Mr. Happy Pants. Though, TBH, my pants aren’t too happy at the moment. Want to help me out with that?  

AngryTink: Tempting. Truly. But, no.  

RhysThis: RU sure? ‘Cuz Happy Pants Rhys is much more agreeable than Sad That He Had to Self-Satisfy Rhys.  

AngryTink: Would you please behave?  

RhysThis: I’m not the one who mentioned the emotional state of my pants.  

AngryTink: ARGH!  

A chuckle rumbled in my chest as my thumbs tapped out a response I knew would piss her off more.  

RhysThis: Was that even English? Honestly, Ms. Brown, I thought you were educated.  

She took a moment to answer. I could picture her, phone in hand, grinding her teeth.  

AngryTink: You’re deliberately trying to annoy me, aren’t you?  

RhysThis: You’re quick. I’ll give you that.  

AngryTink: Mr. Morgan, I’m about ten seconds away from finding an alternate fake boyfriend. A goat on a rope would be a better candidate at this point.   

It was cute she thought that was threatening.  

RhysThis: Yeah, probably. But the goat doesn’t have a signed contract. I do, Tinker Bell.  

AngryTink: ARGH@!!

RhysThis: You’re kind of cute when you talk pirate.

Well, it doesn't sound bad, but doesn't sound like one I'll be sad if I don't read it either.

I used to read these companion books all the time.  Now, I just don't have time.

3.  The Pilo Family Circus by Will Elliott:

My thoughts:  
Sounds creepy for sure!  I'd like to see it as a movie, but don't know that I'll ever read it as a book.

4.  Where You Left Me  by Jennifer Gardner Trulson:

Probably added this because of the September 11 aspect of the story. But doesn't really sound like one I'd want to read anymore.

5.   The Z Word (Apocalypse Babes #1) by Bella Street: 

The Z Word follows Seffy Carter and her longtime friends Gareth, Addison and Lani. The four besties share a past dysfunctional and dark enough to keep them bound together under do-over identities. But rends develop in their relationships from the flesh-eating pressures of ending up in 1980, in a Montana desert, surrounded by zombies wearing dated disco duds.
  
My thoughts:
Eh, I'm so-so on zombie stories these days.  So probably not going to ever care enough to read this one.

6.  Rise of the Governor (The Walking Dead #1) by Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga:

Based on "The Walking Dead" graphic novels/comic books and the series starring Andrew Lincoln ("Teachers", "This Life and Love", and "Love Actually") and written/produced by Frank Darabont whose previous credits include "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile", this is a new trilogy of books written by Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga, author of "Perfect Victim" and "Shattered". Set in the world created by Robert Kirkman, this standalone trilogy is fast-paced, action-packed storytelling about the lengths some men will go to survive. With new characters, new storylines and with the same in-depth character-based plotting that has made the television series such an immediate hit, this trilogy of novels is sure to be a hit with those who love zombies and those who have loved the TV series and comic books.


In the Walking Dead universe, there is no greater villain than The Governor. The despot who runs the walled-off town of Woodbury, he has his own sick sense of justice: whether it’s forcing prisoners to battle zombies in an arena for the townspeople’s amusement, or chopping off the appendages of those who cross him. My thoughts:
I've mentioned how much I love reading the books that go with tv shows I like, but I think this is one I may or may not ever get around to.  Maybe if I get nostalgic for TWD, which I no longer watch.

7.  Not So Snow White by K. Sean Jennkrist:

Beware! This isn't your average fairytale ... Take one troubled teen, add some magic, a touch of romance, a few evil witches, and an elfin-sized sidekick named Duane, and you have NOT SO SNOW WHITE.

My thoughts:  
I do love a good fairy tale retelling, but nah, not too intrigued by this one anymore.

 8.  Drip Drop Teardrop by Samantha Young:

A YA Paranormal Romance for older readers.

My thoughts:
This is by a favorite author of mine, although I've only read her contemporary stories, I'll have to read all of her books at some point probably!

9.  The Right and The Real by Joelle Anthony:

Kicked out for refusing to join a cult, seventeen-year-old Jamie must find a way to survive on her own.

Jamie should have known something was off about the church of the Right and the Real from the start, especially when the Teacher claimed he wasn’t just an ordinary spiritual leader, but Jesus Christ, himself. But she was too taken by Josh, the eldest son of one of the church’s disciples, and his all-American good looks. Josh is the most popular boy at school too, and the first boy outside the drama geeks to give Jamie a second look. But getting her Dad involved in a cult was not part of the plan when she started dating Josh. Neither was her dad’s marriage to the fanatic Mira, or getting kicked out, or seeing Josh in secret because the church has deemed her persona non grata.

Jamie’s life has completely fallen apart. Finding her way back won’t be easy, but when her Dad gets himself into serious trouble, will Jamie be ready to rescue him, and maybe even forgive him?

My thoughts:
Could be good. But don't know that I'll ever get around to it.

10.  My Pretty Pony by Stephen King:

An elderly man on his deathbed gives his young grandson a pocketwatch and warns the boy against the dangers of letting time slip away.

I don't remember anything about this, and yes, I used to have to read all things Stephen King, but don't know that I'll ever get around to this.  Of course it is available online for free it looks like, so maybe some day.

My Review: 
I was so excited to go back to Young's world set on Hart's Boardwalk.  And honestly, she didn't disappoint me.  I was a little worried at first, when it seemed like we had a perfect meet cute and falling in love with no issues, until the boyfriend and his best friend bit dropped.  After that, well, let's just say that the author really knows how to get all the angst into the story.  To leave us wanting and needing more, so that we turn page after page waiting for the  next explosion, passionate or emotional, to arrive.  I tore through this book in basically about 24 hours, sneaking in time to read at my desk at work, staying up past my "bedtime" to read and finish, needing to know how in the world Dahlia would figure out what was right, and that she was really just being too hard on herself and not giving her own happiness a chance.  A lot about this reminded me of one of the books in the On Dublin Street series in a way, not necessarily story wise, but emotions and backstory and all of that type of thing.  

All I can say is after finishing this, I really need the author to go back to Hart's Boardwalk and tell us Emery's story for sure, but now I want a new story for Ivy as well.  I can only cross my fingers and wish that this series will be able to fill itself out like the author did with her first On Dublin Street series.

My Review:

My rating:  3.5 stars

This was a very sweet, very short story.  I loved Autumn and Gray.  It was harder for Autumn to give in to love having been through what we know she dealt with from her part in As Dust Dances.  Gray was all about getting her to give him a chance though. And he went after her full speed.  Which makes sense, Autumn was only in the area on a holiday.  I liked how Gray was able to help her figure out what she really wanted to do now that she'd gotten away from Scotland and her brother.  But I also understand her hesitancy to move so far away from her brother, her only real family.  So it was easy to see just why she held out as she did.
