Synopsis
“Romantic Comedy of the Year!”
“I loved every second of this book!”
“Warning: This author causes book hangovers.”
“Oh my. Be still my heart.”
“Laugh out loud of epic proportions.”
“Loved it. Still laughing.”

Ruth “Ruthless” Harper is on the verge of becoming managing partner at her all-male consulting firm and she won’t let anything stand in her way. That includes men, relationships, and that dreaded F word, FEELINGS—distractions she eliminated long ago.

After the worst day ever (a near-death experience and a public wedgie, for starters), Ruth realizes she doesn’t want to live and die alone. She puts together a business plan to find the perfect man and dives head first into the murky online dating pool. All she wants is a high-powered executive who understands how important her career is. If only it were that easy.

Problem is most men are intimidated by Ruth’s confidence and shocked by her bluntness. The exception being her landscape designer, Nick, whose cool demeanor and unsolicited dating advice are driving her nuts. He’s the antithesis of the business-oriented man Ruth envisions for herself, so why do all signs keep pointing back to him?

A romantic comedy novel for the ages. Order now. Don't delay. Operators are standing by.

My Review:
I've really become a fan of this author after the last two that I read and loved.  And let's just say I'm not getting any younger instead of talking about how I'm getting older, three years away from 50 as of this past October.  So the title and of course synopsis of this one called to me.  It still makes me feel old to have a character that is 45 years old with an adult daughter like Nick has, but I guess it's only true!  Now, while I may not be quite the workaholic that Ruth is, I definitely get where she's coming from.  I do work two jobs, and could probably quit one and just stop buying as much stuff as I do, but I am lonely and can't seem to meet anyone, so I think my stuff makes me happy, so I have to keep working in order to buy it.  It's a vicious circle.

But about the book, Ruth was hilarious, and her dating misadventures even better!  I loved her friend Dee, and it was impossible not to fall in love with Nick.  While I wish we'd maybe had a few more chapters from his point of view towards the middle, we always got his chapters when we needed him.  Their whole relationship development was perfect, how it started as acquaintances with attractions to each other, to friends who were attracted to each other, to finally giving in and just accepting that everyone around them was right and they were meant for each other.  The big end obstacle to overcome came right when I expected it to, and almost at the exact moment I expected, but even though it started out as what I thought would do it, it quickly changed and I was definitely surprised and saddened.  I do like that the author was able to fix or wrap up the issue in a way that was quick and not over drawn out like they can be sometimes.

Once again, I'll say that this author is going to be one I'll be checking out all his new stuff, and I need to find time to go back and ready his books I've missed out on.

My Review:
I've been eager to read another Rich Amooi book since the first one I read last year that I loved.  This one was a very sweet and quick read.  While I normally prefer books about younger heroines, in this case, when I'm about 3 years from being 50 years old myself, I kind of felt like it gave me a bit of hope for my own romantic, or lack of a romantic life.  There were a lot of different things going on in this story, but how everyone handled their issues, mostly, seemed really realistic to me.  We still had the one issue that you've probably seen me complain about numerous romance books, that if they'd just tell the other one the secret they were keeping, they'd probably have been able to solve things a lot quicker.  I had a feeling the way a certain perfect ending happened might be what happened early on in the story. But the author kept it as not a big part of the story, in fact, I thought maybe I was being too cliche by thinking that would be what happened.  I like that the author kept that the way it was.

Now, Liz winning the lottery was perfection. The things she did on her bucket list trip are exactly the types of things I'd want to do if I won the lottery, especially the part about helping rebuild or fix up the building for the school.  While I didn't love this one as much as the other book I read by this author, Madam Love,  Actually, I still really liked it a lot, and sped through the sweet and fun story.

My Review:
I've been interested in reading one of Rich Amooi's books for awhile now, but just hadn't gotten around to it. When I read the synopsis for this one, though, I knew it was one I needed to give a try.  And I was not disappointed!  In fact, I can't wait to read more books by this author now!  I believe that Madam Love actually is a minor character in another book by the author, so I figure I'll go back and start with that one.

The characters were great, I could totally see each of them as they were written.  Whenever they ended up together it was hilarious.  I love how the little coincidences ended up getting Lance and Emma together, or should I say Lance and Madam Love.  While I almost feel a bit of the same with how no one knew Superman and Clark Kent were the same person, I could let that go enough to get into the story and just fall in love.

I was in the story yelling at Emma so many times to just go ahead and tell Lance.  Even though I know that she really needed to win the bet in order to save her business, I didn't really ever get the feeling from her that made her seem greedy or wrong about doing that.  It wasn't on the top of her mind the whole time, and that's why when at the end she mentioned it, I still wasn't angry at her for what she had done.

I saw another reviewer mention that they knew who they wanted Madam Love to set them up with, and I laughed, because that is exactly how everyone came to her, asking for exactly what they wanted.  I'd just like to find a real Madam Love to tell me what three things I need to do in order to meet my soulmate.  At this point, I'm eager to find him no matter what he looks like or who he is!

This book was so good that I had trouble making myself stop reading and go to sleep, even when I had to get up the next morning.  I am so glad I was on summer break for this one, because I did stay up quite late on the nights I was reading it.
