Contemporary Romance

$0.99 Contemporary Romance Special

The last thing Natalie needs in her life is a handsome-as-sin single father living right next door. What she wants to do is shun the world and embrace her broken heart. She regrets snapping at his little girl over something as silly as Christmas lights, but nothing in the world will change her mind about taking part in holiday hoopla or letting a cherub, or her sexy father, into her life.

Zach's decision to ignore his snarky, smoking-hot new neighbor is an easy one, even if he feels a tug of regret he won’t get to know her better. He wants nothing to do with a woman who would snap at his little girl over something as trivial as decorating for the holiday.

Neither are prepared for hearts tripping and emotional barriers falling when Zach snatches her from the flames engulfing her home and ends up tucking her into his spare bedroom. Little does he know his ability to play nothing more than caretaker until she's back on her feet is nothing more than smoke and mirrors.

Will holiday hearts awaken to passion and new love, or will Zach and Natalie let this chance at new love pass them by?

About the Author

Fiola has always loved to read and cut her teeth on page-turners such as The Forest of Mystery, Robin Hood and Nancy Drew. She grew up a devout tomboy, playing with cowgirl action figures, and getting into mischief back when Silicon Valley wasn't even a gleam in San Jose's eyes.

She loves to live life to its fullest, from riding hell-bent-for-leather on her Appaloosa in gymkhanas to surf-fishing in Hawaii, jumping boulders on the breakwater in Morro Bay to walking barefoot on the beach and dreaming of romance.

Many of her story ideas were found during her travels far and wide, from Corpus Christi TX, where her ancestors are buried in the Pioneer Cemetery to Pendleton OR. From Tucson AZ to Seattle WA to Vancouver BC. She's always on the lookout for that next story, that next place to bury the body. Or lock-lips with a hot guy.

She kicks-ass and takes names in beautiful but weird Portland, Oregon with her amazingly talented son and daughter-in-law and their most affectionate cat Nudge.

Blog Tour - Review: Too Many Rockstars by Candy J. Starr

Book info:
TitleToo Many Rockstars
Author:  Candy J. Starr
Genre:  New Adult Romance
Published:  October 30th, 2015
Source:  Copy provided by Reading Addiction Virtual Book Tours

Synopsis:
I don’t date rockers. Don’t sleep with them. Don’t even swap spit. I’ve been working as a band booker at Trouble -- the coolest indie rock club in town -- long enough to know what a bunch of screwed up, egotistical jerks they are.

That would be fine if Razer didn’t keep popping into my office, making himself so annoyingly attractive. And he only gets more insistent when the mysterious, leather-clad Alex hits town.

While they compete for both rock glory and my affection, I get stuck in the middle but all I really want to do is save the club from financial ruin. That means I have to play along with their stupid games.

That’s the trouble with my life: too many rock stars.

This is book 1 in the Access All Areas rock star series. For the best, non-spoiler it is best to read the series in order but each book is a complete story with no cliffhangers.

My Review:
I have recently started reading a lot of these rock star romance books, and this one was a pretty good addition to the list of ones I've read.

The main character is Violet.  It is her viewpoint you're reading in the synopsis above.  We meet her first in the club, sleeping back in the office, where she is interrupted by one of the other main characters, one of the rock stars, Razer.  Razer is a regular at the bar, and he always seems to be hitting on Violet. But Violet has a bad history with rock stars, and so she has sworn all of them off.  No matter how sexy they are, no matter how much they may try to get her to go out with them.  Things change a bit when a new rock star, Alex, walks into the bar and asks for a chance to perform.  Not only that, but he also decides to flirt with Violet.  Again, he's hot, wearing leather pants and clothing like you'd expect on a rock star.

When Razer sees Alex flirting with Violet, the girl he does really like, and has been trying to "woo" for a while  now, it brings out the competitive side in both of the men.  They argue about who is more popular, and the better musician. They decide the only way to settle it is with a competition at the bar.  But the prize, the prize they want is for Violet to go on a date with the winner.  But, according to her promise to herself, she refuses to be a part of it.  But her boss, just about to lose the bar for financial reasons, insists that she needs to.  We learn a bit about each of the boys, because they each get their own chapters throughout the book.  And it may be kind of hard to pick which you want to win.

In the end, while Violet may end up having to go on a date with the winner, that doesn't mean he has won her heart.

I enjoyed the read, it was a quick one, hard to put down.  There were a few issues I had, mostly with things that could have been fixed with an extra editor's eye probably. The story worked though, again with a few things that could have used some sharpening up. But even with the issues, I did really enjoy it, and will probably at some point read the other books in the series.

Excerpt:

Our bodies almost touched. I waited for him to try to kiss me again. I prepared to fight. I didn't want to kiss him. I didn't want him to make those kinds of moves. I sure didn’t want him to make me feel those kinds of feelings. Our breathing fell into time with each other. My heart still beat so hard. I wanted to move away from him but my legs had turned to jelly. From that ride on the back of the bike, of course. I'd been clenching my muscles so hard they no longer worked.

A bird squawked in the distance somewhere. The wind blew through the trees. The smell of eucalyptus filled the summer air. I stayed perfectly still. The moment drew out and he didn't move. He just stood beside me until my anticipation turned to disappointment.

I didn't want him to kiss me but he could at least try. Maybe he'd lost interest in me and only saw me as a friend. That's what I wanted. That's the only thing I wanted. So why did my heart feel like a big, heavy stone weighing me down? I couldn't handle this tension and walked away from the bike, my footsteps crunching on the gravel.

Author Bio:
Candy J. Starr used to be a band manager until she realised that the band she managed was so lacking in charisma that they actually sucked the charisma out of any room they played. “Screw you,” she said, leaving them to wallow in obscurity – totally forgetting that they owed her big bucks for video equipment hire.

Candy has filmed and interviewed some big names in the rock business, and a lot of small ones. She’s seen the dirty little secrets that go on in the back rooms of band venues. She’s seen the ugly side of rock and the very pretty one.

But, of course, everything she writes is fiction.
