Top 10 of 2018: My Top Book Boyfriends of the Year with Giveaway

This year I'm participating in the Top 10 of 2018 hosted by Kimberly Faye Reads.  Now today's actual topic was supposed to be captivating characters or favorite characters, but since I'd already kind of planned to do the same as last year's end of the year top 10, I am sticking with my favorite book boyfriends, which are, of course still characters.  These are in no particular order.

1.

Kip - who I started out picturing as a Jason Momoa lookalike, until it said he had blond hair.  Then I had to change my image a bit.  But what I loved most about Kip was his witty banter and snarkiness.

2.

Okay, that's not him, but Luke from this story is a great guy!  He's that best friend I wish I had, and again, I loved the banter and all the funny jokes and comments they made to each other.

3.

JLA always writes some of the best boyfriends, and Luc is no different.  He's no Daemon Black, but he's pretty close!  I can't wait to read more in this series, to learn just what all Luc is capable of.

4.

So, we didn't get much from his viewpoint, but I just loved Jake.  I think what I liked most about him was how he was able to deal with his love interest's sarcastic side, something that is totally me, something a guy would have to deal with me as well.

5.
Ash is the younger man I wish I could find.  I am a cougar technically because I like younger guys, but I am not a cougar really, because I am not aggressive at all.  So Ash is totally the type of guy I wish for all the time.

6.
Adam - hot and hilarious.  And I love that he give the main character's sarcasm and snarkiness right back to her.  Again, my perfect kind of guy.

7.

Pretty much any guy that K. Bromberg writes is a perfect book boyfriend. But Grayson Malone, hot dad, hot guy, yeah.  Just hot.  While some of the problems in the book were on his side and made me mad, I still would love to have my own Grayson.

8.

As much as I liked the first book in this series, Three Blind Dates, this second book which concentrated on Beck that we met in that first one, is my favorite.  Because, Beck.  'Nuff said.

9.

You've probably noticed this one on all the days this week. Well, of course it only makes sense that Leo is another of my new favorite book boyfriends.  He is just hilarious. The love-hate relationship is perfect. This is a book I can see reading over and over.

10.
Now I've got a tie here for this last one.

Okay, I love both of the boys in this series so far.  I can't decide which I liked more.  Miles, had to love him, how he dealt with his dirty-minded romance author woman.  But then there was Sam from Next in Line, and Sam was all man.  Outdoorsy, hot, hot, ginger, bearded.  Sigh.

RUNNER UP!!!

Okay, if you've followed me for very long, you know that Nate Sawyer from Before Jamaica Lane is tied for one of my three top book boyfriends.  Nate got a little novella this year, so he gets to make the list as a runner up, but I didn't count him as the top 10 since technically I've loved him for years.

So, those are my top ten book boyfriends this year, top 11?  Top 12 actually?  How about you?  Do you have any new book boyfriends from this year?  Or, maybe in the spirit of the actual theme of Captivating Characters, who was your favorite character in the books you read this year?

Below is today's giveaway.  But I've posted three other giveaways this week on my other Top 10 posts:  Top 10 New to Me Authors, Top 10 Favorite Covers, and Top 10 Favorite Books.

And hey, there aren't that many entries yet, so you have a good chance!  Go enter!  But share if you can!  Enter today and then come back tomorrow for yet another giveaway!  These will run until the end of 2018.

Excerpt:
I sneak closer to the bed, my heart pounding as I throw the pillow at him. The guy shifts in his sleep, and his breathing slows, but a beat later the snoring starts again and I have to resist the urge to scream. Instead, I raise my poker and jab the sheet covered body. It’s not hard, just a quick jab or two, but he still doesn’t stir.

“Hey, asshole!” I shout, and whack him hard in the butt with my poker.

The giant freak jumps up and seizes my hand. His grip forces me to drop my weapon. He yanks me toward him—on top of him—and this is how I find myself eye to eye with the beast. He breathes his heavy, stinking breath on my face, and I wince and wrinkle my nose.

Leo’s eyes crinkle in the corners as he laughs. “Morning, Pop Tart.”

“Get the hell out of my bed. And brush your goddamn teeth. What are you doing in my house, Nass?”
“Ah, still feisty, huh? Is this like an all-day thing with you, or do you eventually turn from an angry sea witch into a person? Would coffee help?”

“Fuck you, Leo.”

“Darlin’, you wish.”

“You’re disgusting. I wouldn’t touch you if—”

“Yeah, yeah, if I were the last man on Earth. I’ve heard it all before, sweet cheeks, and I don’t buy it for a second.” He flips us so suddenly my head spins. I’m beneath him, my wrists pinioned to the bed above my head by just one of his strong hands. The other glides up my side. My sheets have twisted up around us, but from this angle it looks as if Leo Nass is very much naked in my bed.

“Goddamn it,” I complain once I find my voice. “I’m going to need to burn these sheets after you leave.”

His eyebrow quirks, and the grin he gives me is all-out salacious. He shifts his weight between my legs, then he drops his hips and grinds his erection against me. I’m stunned, speechless. I have no words. They’ve all left me because my brain has turned to mush and my vagina is the only one thinking, and I’m really not okay leaving her in charge. “Why burn them when we’re not done messing them up?”

My Review:
Hmm, where to start, I'm just not sure.  All I know is that I ADORED this book!  I finished this book in less than 24 hours.  I stayed up late to finish it.  I could barely put it down to go to work, and unfortunately the snow days did not continue while I was reading it, so I had to go to work.  I was first amused that when I downloaded it to start reading during the commercials while I was watching some of my DVR episodes of Supernatural, and realized that the main character's cats were named Sam, Dean, and Castiel. As the story went on and we learned just how much Poppy loved the same show I was watching and love, I knew she was a girl after my own heart.  The heartache in this story is just so intense, I mean it is her best friend marrying her ex-boyfriend, and what's worse, it is where Poppy works as a wedding planner that is taking care of the wedding.  AND, her best friend still expects her to be a part of the wedding.

But, even as you are feeling the heartsick and unfairness that comes with this situation, there is the hilariousness of Poppy and her lust-hate relationship with Leo.  Part of the story is from Leo's point of view as well, which makes for even funnier moments to see the whole thing from his side as well. So many hilarious bits.  The box of vibrators that Leo sends Poppy.  All the things he does are funny.  And the way Poppy reacts to him, so much like I would probably react as well.  Then, that moment when it seems maybe things will turn around for Poppy, but of course something must happen to ruin it, to confuse it all.  I was bereft at that, even though I knew, in the end, we would get our HEA.  This is my first book by this author, and I can't wait to read more!  Also, I will definitely have to buy a physical copy of this one, I mean, I can see reading it again and again, and that cover is so awesome!
