Synopsis:

Poor judgment: knowing better yet doing it anyway.

Flint Stone is a professional in every way.

He’s a police officer with the K-9 unit and works at Gun Barrel High as the school resource officer. In his spare time, he’s working his heart out to create a successful gym from the ground up.

He’s loved by every single person he ever encounters—student, faculty, and employees—Everyone but Camryn Elvis Presley.

The only thing they have in common is their mothers’ poor excuses for names.
Period. The end.

So why is it every time she crosses his path that he has the urge to mess up her perfectly curled hair? Or unbutton a few of her prim and proper buttons?

He knows he should stay away, yet like the high schoolers he’s around every day, he has no choice but to react first and think about the consequences later.

Side note—bad decisions are made, leading to lapses in judgment that threaten both of their jobs. Yet when the time comes, neither one can seem to find the wherewithal to care. Why? Because being bad feels so good.

My Review:
I'm pretty sure that Lani Lynn Vale is one of my new favorite authors.  I mean, this book started off with a reference to the  Final Destination movie series, something that I think about all the time from that movie!  It's funny to read my updates on Goodreads as I was reading this, I keep going on and on about how much I love this author!  So much that she does in her stories makes me laugh, and keeps me turning pages, staying up way later than I should.  One fun thing is that each chapter has a little text or note from one of the characters, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the actual story in that chapter, but is so funny and gives you such a fun snippet of the characters on the first chapters, and by the end you're just chuckling at the little tidbit and thinking how that is sooooo whatever character it is.  The characters are real, but fun.  All the characters play a role in the story, even ones that you might think are just there as extras end up having bigger parts to play a lot of times.  I loved the total hate/lust that was between Flint and Camryn.  And their names, so perfect!  Flint Stone.  And Camryn Elvis Presley.  But it's not all fun and games and just gossipy issues at school for the drama.  There's real drama at the end.  Major drama.  Some tears drama for me.  But lots of loyalty and love and steam to make it the kind of story I have come to love and expect from this author.

I saw her first.
Blonde. Gorgeous. Feisty.
I was smitten.

But it didn’t matter because she chose him and he was my best friend and roommate. I’d never be able to compete with that, so I pushed her away instead. It was easy when she lived hours away, and I didn’t have to see her every day, but then she moved in with us.
Now, I’m screwed.

To her singing in the shower every morning, dancing in the kitchen while she makes coffee, and doing yoga in our living room, I can’t stop thinking about her in all the wrong ways. She’s not mine and never will be, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to push her against a wall and claim her mouth.

She’s constantly on me for making messes, bringing chicks home every weekend, and being a smartass when their PDA gets on my nerves. Considering neither of them know how I feel, it’s not fair for the way I act toward them. I should move out so I can get over her for good; however, the selfish part of me can’t let go.

But then the unthinkable happens...
When my best friend dies in a motorcycle accident, the two of us are left to grieve our loss together. Instead of pushing her away, I pull her closer.

Just as we come to terms with our new reality, she finds out she’s pregnant with his baby.
And I’m left to make the hardest decision of my life...

My Review:
I loved this one!  It had a lot of angst, both on the part of Hunter and his love for Lennon that he couldn't share because she was his best friend's girl, as well as when that same best friend dies, leaving both of them mourning but only having each other.  The pregnancy was obviously something we knew would come about from the synopsis, but I really like the way it was handled in this story.  While there would of course be joy from having a part of your love live on in a child, there was also the sorrow of not being able to share it with him, and then also for Hunter to know that reminder would always be there for Lennon. And then, the end!  No spoilers, but let me say that I did not see that coming!  And also, I NEED book 2 NOW!

Book 2 in the Hunter and Lennon Duet Synopsis coming soon!
