It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - February 9th, 2015

This weekly meme is sponsored by Book Journey, and we talk about things we read last week, and our plans for what we'll read this coming week.

Last week:

I got my goal of two reviews in last week.
And I am now a much bigger fan of JLA than I knew I would be.  I am in love with her books!  Probably will be grabbing all of them that I can get my hands on from now on!  Oh yeah, I did DNF one book, Puppet by Pauline C. Harris.  It was working towards getting my Netgalley feedback ratio back up, unfortunately I had to leave not so good feedback on the site, and I won't blog about it if I didn't finish it.  I had planned to read The Sin Eater's Daughter egalley I had last week, but it kept getting stuck at page 5 or so, and I had to give up.  I was very upset by that.

Currently reading:

As I just mentioned, I'm so agog over JLA now, that I had to read on to the second book in the series I started last week.  So I'm currently devouring it whenever I have a spare minute.

This week:

As I mentioned last week, I'm still trying to get caught up on egalleys, and I also found out that my feedback ratio on Netgalley is down to 77%, so I must get caught up on those as well.  As you can see I got one done, even if I didn't actually finish it above.  Here are my plans for this week when I finish my current read:
I'm really hoping to get those all read this week, but some may bleed over into next week.  I have to work both tonight and tomorrow night at the bookstore where I work part time, so that will cut into reading time this week.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - February 2nd, 2015

This weekly meme is sponsored by Book Journey, and we talk about things we read last week, and our plans for what we'll read this coming week.

Last week:

I got three reviews in last week, so that's awesome!  With my goal being 2 a week, that means I stayed on top of that.
  Currently Reading:

I'm working on keeping up and maybe getting ahead with my e-galleys and other review books, so I'm on my 2nd one in a row this week, pictured below.  It's definitely fitting right in with my love of fairy tales reimagined.

This week:

As I mentioned above, I'm working on getting my egalleys caught up, and I'm doing well as the books I'm working on now won't be published till the last week of February.  I'm also going to try to read more of my romance titles, other than what I have to read to keep up with reviews, since it is February and Valentine's Day is this month.  So that is playing into my other book choices for the month.  The egalleys are also mostly working for my COYER challenge as well. I'm going to try to be reasonable with what I think I might get to this week, and here are those plans:
Now I've heard some not so great reviews on the 2nd one, but it sounded so good I want to read and make my own opinion.  So I didn't really read the reviews yet, just the ratings so far.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - December 29th, 2014

This weekly meme is sponsored by Book Journey, and we talk about things we read last week, and our plans for what we'll read this coming week.

Last week:

For Christmas break I've been getting some reading done.  Not as much as I'd hoped, but still pretty good.  I did get two reviews done for the week, as was my goal for the year.

Currently Reading:

Well, I just DNFed Monkey Wars by Richard Kurti.  I've now moved on to the book pictured below, which I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, but we'll see.

This week:
I'm working on trying to get some e-galleys caught up before they expire, plus hoping to do a little New Year's mini-challenge for COYER starting on January 1st.  But I'm doing more DNFs if they don't catch my interest, like I did with Monkey Wars.  If it is an egalley, I will give a mini-review on Goodreads and then also on Edelweiss or Netgalley for the publisher, even if I don't do one on here.  So here are the tentative reading plans for the week:
I'm pretty sure I won't get through all of those, but those are what I intend to attempt to read this week.  Wish me luck!

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - December 15th, 2014

This weekly meme is sponsored by Book Journey, and we talk about things we read last week, and our plans for what we'll read this coming week.

Last week:

My reading has just not been good lately!  No time it seems.  Too much going on.  Plus, I had started an egalley last week that I had trouble getting into and ended up DNFing, Unlovely by Celeste Conway.  I got 50 pages into it, and it still hadn't really grabbed me, so I set it down to read something else.  My goal is two reviews a week, so I did at least meet that.
  Currently Reading:

My current read is an e-galley that I'm not really pumped up about.  I'm waiting for something to pay off in the end.  I do intend to finish it before I go to bed tonight.  I'm ready to move on to my next read!  I had hoped to be done with this book last night, but I kept falling asleep and as I was holding my Nook up above my face as I was in bed reading, I kept hitting myself in the nose when it fell.

This week:

So, I am getting around to an ARC that I have been so excited about ever since my manager at the bookstore where I work part time gave it to me.  And then I hope to get through some other e-galleys quickly.  So again, this is a tentative plan, although I'm sure the first two on the list I'll get at least one of them done and the other started by the end of the week for sure.
The last two are both ones that are published on January 6th I believe, which I have a bunch of e-galleys that will be published on that day that I need to get to!  So I may be reading two e-galleys for every physical book or ARC that I read until I get a bit more caught up on those e-galleys.  Plus, I'll be starting the COYER Challenge on Saturday, so that will fit in with that as well.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - October 13th, 2014

This weekly meme is sponsored by Book Journey, and we talk about things we read last week, and our plans for what we'll read this coming week.

Last week:

Last week I only got 2 reviews done, which is what my goal is, so that's not bad.  But I guess having 4 the week before evened it out.  But then I got to read, and of course LOVE, Blue Lily, Lily Blue.
Currently Reading:

I'm not really enthused, or necessarily enjoying my current read.  But since I requested it as an e-galley, I feel like I need to finish it.  I can see that it is a good book, it's just not really my type of book.  I do know that if I don't finish it tonight, I will be DNFing it and moving on to my next read.

This week:

Okay, I have a couple things I've signed up for this week.  A cover reveal, which I don't normally do because I don't always really pay attention when other blogs do them. But I figured I'd help an author that I met at BEA this year promote her book.  I also have an author I'm friends with on Facebook who I will be doing a post for his new book, so I'll be reading that this week.  It's over 400 pages, though, so I hope I can get through it quickly!  That's another reason I may give up on my current read after today.  Plus, I loved the Top 10 Tuesday topic for this week.  I even started working on it last week, but then haven't had time to go back and finish it yet!  Will have to get it done soon, before tomorrow anyway.  I will also have a Stacking the Shelves including my Amazon delivery that I griped about last week, that I will hopefully get today.  And last but not least, since I plan to actually complete NaNoWriMo this year, I know that will mean less reading during the month of November, and also less time to blog.  So I want to start getting posts ready and scheduled to help out.  I plan to look through the Top Ten Tuesday topics ahead of time and pick some, as well as other memes that might be listed ahead of time.  Here are my planned reads for the week after I finish Glory O'Brien's History of the Future:

I feel so behind!  Must get back on track!  Those are my plans for the week, what are yours?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - October 6th, 2014

This weekly meme is sponsored by Book Journey, and we talk about things we read last week, and our plans for what we'll read this coming week.

Last week:

Last week was actually a pretty good week for reviews.  I got four books reviewed and posted last week.  A couple were e-galleys that I was kind of in a hurry to get done, partly so I could get to the book I'm reading now!  One was a book that was the last one for my September Sequels Challenge.
 Currently reading:

The book that I was denied an e-galley of, so I emailed and practically begged for another chance for the e-galley, or even better, an actual ARC, and I was rewarded with an ARC!!!!!  The one that I really want to be reading right now instead of working (or blogging).   The book that I would be done with tonight if it wasn't that I had to sleep at some point, and there is new tv on tonight.

This week:

My September Sequel challenge, among other things, got me off track on reading my e-galleys and ARCs.  So I'm really trying to get back on track with all that.  Back to reading one physical book, probably an ARC, followed by an e-galley, and so forth.  So here is my tentative plan for the week after I finish Blue Lily, Lily Blue:
The last one is a maybe, I don't have my list of e-galleys here with me while I'm writing this post to be positive.  And again, it will depend how busy I am this week.  As of today, I have tonight and the next two nights to read at home.  But there's a possibility I may go hand out with my dad one of these nights while my stepmom is out of town, so that will take up a bit of time for reading.  So those are my reading plans for the week, what plans do you have?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - September 8th, 2014

This weekly meme is sponsored by Book Journey, and we talk about things we read last week, and our plans for what we'll read this coming week.

Last week:

Well, first of all, I started my 3rd annual September is for Sequels Challenge since it is now September.   Along with that was the September is for Sequels Giveaway Hop that I am co-hosting with I Am a Reader. Today is the last day to enter, so be sure to click on the link to the Hop and enter if you haven't yet.  I posted 3 reviews last week:
The last one of those is my first entry into my Sequels Challenge.  With my sequels challenge it is kind of putting a bit of a dent into my reading plans for ARCs and E-galleys.  But I'll explain more when I get to the plans for this week.

Currently reading:

I am currently reading Unravel Me (Shatter Me #2) by Tahereh Mafi for my September is for Sequels Challenge.  It's 400 pages, so is taking me a day or two to get through it.

This week:

As I mentioned, I'm trying to get my sequels done, plus I'm participating in Tressa at Wishful Endings's Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon this week and next.   So that is keeping me from reading some of my e-galleys/ARCs.  I really want to read my ARC of Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld this week, but I may wait till I'm done with the challenge because it is like 600 pages long!  So here are my planned reads, once I finish Unravel Me:
Of course, how many I get through depends on how quickly I finish them, as they are all between 300-400 pages, and I seem to have more and more to do now that school is back in.  Plus I have to take a Praxis test tomorrow night for my library job, Kansas won't just transfer my Missouri library/teaching license since I didn't have the library experience before I came here.  So I have to take the Praxis.  Which means I should really only be studying that tonight, and not doing any reading.  (Yeah right, like that's going to happen)

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - June 9th, 2014

This weekly meme is sponsored by Book Journey, and we talk about things we read last week, and our plans for what we'll read this coming week.

Last Week:

So, the beginning of last week I was still in New York City after BEA, still visiting with my sister.  I didn't get hardly any reading done for being at a book convention, but that's okay.  Plus, my sister kept me pretty busy so I didn't always get much reading done even after BEA was over.  But once I got home last week, I picked up my books and got to reading.  I had three reviews I posted last week, although one I finished before I got to NYC, and just didn't have any time to read or blog during BEA and spending time with my sister.  So technically, all I actually read last week were these two:
Now I really, really tried to read The Strange Maid by Tessa Gratton, I have an e-galley of it.  But for some reason I just haven't been able to spend the time really needed to concentrate on the story.  Whenever I did have time that I could just read and there was nothing else to distract me, I really was getting into it.  But the e-galley expires on Wednesday, and the book I'm currently reading expires then. So I decided to read The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings, and wait to finish Gratton's book for when I actually get a physical copy of it, because I will own it some day, as I own all her books.

I was able to get back to blogging at the rate I want to, with three reviews including Dark Metropolis by Jaclyn Dolamore, and three days of BEA recap:  Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3.

This week:

As I said above, I'm currently reading The Murder Complex, so that will probably be reviewed tomorrow.  I may do a Wishlist Wednesday recap talking about which bloggers I met at BEA, since I did a post beforehand about which ones I wanted to meet.  Not sure yet about that.  I'm going to try really hard to get Don't You Forget About Me by Kate Karyus Quinn read before my e-galley of it expires on Wednesday as well.  Afterwards, not sure what other book I'll pick up.  Maybe finally get around to reading City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare so that I can be ready to read City of Heavenly Fire.  I'll also do a Stacking the Shelves post this week, with the few books I've gotten that weren't from BEA and featured already.  I did get a few off of Edelweiss today in fact.  And then there were some that I didn't get ARCs of at BEA, so I immediately went and downloaded them from Edelweiss as well!

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - May 12th, 2014

This weekly meme is sponsored by Book Journey, and we talk about things we read last week, and our plans for what we'll read this coming week.

Last week:

I did have a pretty busy week last week, I totally reached and passed my goal of 2 reviews a week, by getting in a total of 4!!  Yay me!

I blogged almost every other day last week.  After doing the April A to Z Challenge, I almost feel guilty if I don't post something every day.  I did take Saturday off.  I did one meme, Wishlist Wednesday, where I talked about all the books I'm hoping to get at BEA in about two weeks!  The sad (funny?) thing about that, is that I completely forgot all the authors I'm looking forward to meeting at the in-booth autographing, so I left out a ton of books!  And I also did a re-cap of the Dark Days of Summer Tour that stopped in Kansas City, where I got to meet four really cool authors!

This week:

I'm currently reading The Liberator  by Victoria Scott so that I can read the e-galley of The Warrior also this week.  I got an email from the publisher asking to post the reviews as soon as possible last week, since it came out last week.  So I figured I'd better get on that this week!  Not sure what I'll read after those two.

I'm going to do another BEA themed Wishlist Wednesday this week, only it will be about the authors I'm hoping to meet at BEA this year.  Not sure I'll post a lot of pictures like I did with the books last week.  And then the Wednesday after this I'll be posting a Wishlist Wednesday about the Bloggers I'm hoping to meet this year at BEA.

Looks like a kind of slim week, I will probably have a Stacking the Shelves post this week, since when I get my paycheck on Thursday, I will go buy the books I got autographed last Thursday night, but was unable to purchase at the time.  It's nice to work at a bookstore and get that little perk.  :-)

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - January 13th, 2014

This weekly meme is sponsored by Book Journey, and we talk about things we read last week, and our plans for what we'll read this coming week.

Last Week:

Well, I did well with one of my New Year's resolutions to try to have at least 2 book reviews a week, because I had 3 last week:

And then I blogged almost every day last week by filling in with some memes:

The Clear Your Shelves Giveaway also ended on Friday, the 10th, so I've still got to go into the Rafflecopter and pick the winner.  Will probably do that today some time.

This Week:
One reason I'm doing this post today instead of a review like I'd hoped, is because the current book I'm reading is over 500 pages, and while it's really getting good, it has a lot of great detail, and so I'm making sure that I read as close as I can.  I'm hoping to finish it tonight to review tomorrow, it is The Diviners by Libba Bray.  I will probably participate in Waiting on Wednesday, and then hopefully, depending on the length of the next book I read, will either have a review on Thursday or Friday.  I'm thinking I will be reading an e-galley by Scott Sigler next called Pandemic, the third in the Infected series, which I've enjoyed the first two from that series.    I will of course have a Stacking the Shelves, either Saturday or Sunday, and not sure what book I will read after Pandemic.  Possibly Pulse, by Patrick Carman, so that I can be ready to read the ARC of it that I won from Epic Reads.

And plans can always change.  My step-dad will be having surgery on Thursday night, and then my last day at the bookstore for awhile, since I'm going to seasonal help, will be on Saturday.  So, how have you done with your resolutions so far?  And do you have any exciting plans for the upcoming week?

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? (5)

Once again I find myself with a day that I'm not ready to post a review, so I'll be joining in to this meme that is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.  For this we are supposed to spotlight the books we are reading, planning on reading, or just finished reading.  So here is my plan for the week:

First I plan to finish reading Crewel by Gennifer Albin.  After that I'm hoping that I can finish my e-galley of James Dashner's newest book:  The Eye of Minds that you see below.  My e-galley is supposed to expire on the 9th, which will only give me two days!  Yikes!  I'd better go see if maybe I can download it again to get 30 days again.

And because I know that there's no way I'll get through more than 3 books in a week these days, I hope to get started, and hopefully finish a library book that I think is also due back this week, one that I checked out because I've read number 1 in the series, and I have an ARC of number 3, but still needed to read number 2, Darkness Falls by Cate Tiernan.

I think this list is a little more realistic than my last one.  It seems most of the books I'm wanting to read now are at least 300 pages if not 400.  So, what do you plan to read this week?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (4)

Once again I find myself with a day that I'm not ready to post a review, so I'll be joining in to this meme that is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.  For this we are supposed to spotlight the books we are reading, planning on reading, or just finished reading.  So here is my plan for the week:

I'm finishing up The Dream Thieves before Maggie Stiefvater is in town again tomorrow night.  So excited to see her again, and supposedly we are supposed to get to help spray paint her car!  Also, this is the 4th (5th if you count one e-galley I read that I can't post till the end of the month) book in my 2nd Annual September is for Sequels Challenge.  If you go back and look at last Monday's post, you'll see I didn't get all that I wanted read.  But, here are my hopes for getting read this week:

This one I'd hoped to get done last week, it is an e-galley from Netgalley, and also on my September is for Sequels list.

This is one I won in a giveaway last year, and it has been sitting on my TBR shelf ever since!  It is #2 in the Croak series, and so it also goes on my sequels list.

And finally, an e-book I also won from a giveaway, earlier this year I think, another sequel that I'm hoping to at least get started if not finished by next Monday!

So, how about you?  What are you reading right now?  And what do you plan to read later this week?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (3)

Once again I find myself with a day that I'm not ready to post a review, so I'll be joining in to this meme that is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.  For this we are supposed to spotlight the books we are reading, planning on reading, or just finished reading.  So here is my plan for the week:

This morning I started The Elite by Kiera Cass.  It is part of my list to read for my 2nd Annual September is for Sequels Challenge.  Hoping to get it finished by tomorrow night, Wednesday at the latest, so I can get back on track with my challenge.  These are the books I'm hoping to also read this week:

I have this as an e-galley from Edelweiss, and it also is on my sequels list.  One of my favorite series!!

While I did get this as an e-galley from Netgalley, I was lucky enough to get someone to trade with me on the YA Book Exchange so I could have my own copy!  Plus the author, Maggie Stiefvater, will be in my town next week, so I want to read it before she's here!

And, I hope, that I can at least get this one started if not finished this week, also on my sequels list.  It is an e-galley I have from Netgalley.

What about you, what are you reading, and what do you plan to read this week?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (2)

Well, since I'm not done with the current book I'm reading, and even if I do finish it today, I can't review it till my scheduled day on the blog tour, Thursday, I needed to find something to blog about since my goal was to blog every day this summer.  So this week I'm joining this meme which is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.  For this we are supposed to spotlight the books we are reading, planning on reading, or just finished reading.  So here is my plan for the week:

I'm currently reading Shudder, the sequel to Stitch, as I am part of the blog tour to promote it.  On Thursday I will be reviewing it, as well as sharing an interview with the author, Samantha Durante.  I will probably finish it tonight, so here are my plans for what I'll read the rest of the week:

I got this copy from the library, still waiting on the third book, Tidal, from the library.  I got an email notice saying it had come in last Monday, and when I went in to pick it up, it wasn't there.  The library doesn't know if it just hadn't actually made it, or if someone decided they wanted to read it and just took it without checking it out.  But I need to find the third one after I read Lullaby, because I have the e-galley of the fourth one, Elegy, waiting to be read on my Nook.  So, hopefully I'll be reading all of these books this week.  Just in case I don't get Tidal in time, after Lullaby, I will probably read:

I just found out today that I was approved to read this from Edelweiss, and as I can review it as early as the 13th, because it comes out next month on the 13th, I am very excited to go ahead and read on in the Life As We Knew It series.

Again, if my plans for the Watersong trilogy don't work out, I'll continue on with another library book, the 2nd one in the Katerina trilogy.  Since I have the 3rd one also as an e-galley, and can go ahead and blog about this right away since this is already published.

What about you?  What are you planning to read this week?
