My Review:
If you follow the author you have seen her emotional posts about this final book in the Harris Brothers series.  And if you've read them all, then like me, you'll understand her sadness.  As much as I had to have this second one right away after part one of Gareth's Story, Surrender, because of the ending, it was a hard one to finish.  Knowing that when we got the end, all the Harris boys would have their HEA, and we'd be left knowing there would be no more.  While all of the books in this series, excluding these last two, are standalones, having read all of them, it made all the story so much better to know all the characters.  It was like a family reunion, loving all the time we got with these characters we've come to know and love.

The sexiness and risque-ness of the first one carries over to this one, but there is a difference to it.  The difference is one that makes the whole "surrender" and "dominate" ideas sound like my kind of fun.  The awesome thing about Daws writing though, is that those two words relate to so many aspects of the story, and the ways are woven throughout the story seamlessly.  Surrender and dominate in soccer, or just in life, as this quote from the beginning says:

"Something that you refuse to surrender to until you dominate it in every way."

This is something that Gareth's mother said to him, about knowing what to love and dedicate his life to.  And it fits so well with his love of soccer, excuse me, sorry, football, as well as his family's love and life filled with the same.  In this final tale of the Harris family, we get so much more of the background of the Harris mother, things that we barely got to touch on in earlier stories because of the age of those characters when she died, most of them under the age of five. Gareth got to live with her until he was about 8 years old, though.  He was there with her when she was sick.   His mother was his best friend.  But it's not just his mom that we get to know, we get to know about their father, Vaughn Harris.

If you read my review of the first book, Surrender, which I've linked to above, you know that I wasn't the biggest fan of Gareth before I got to know him.  This book gives you that insight into the father, the closed-off, curt man we all love to hate for how he supposedly treated his wife when she was sick, how he left his children to be raised basically by each other, Gareth and Vi.  Through his own memories of his wife and his past, I know that I probably began to forgive him before Gareth was able to.

Also you might have noted in my review of the first book, I hated Sloan's ex-husband, and her ex-mother-in-law.  Without giving anything away, I will say that one of those definitely redeemed themselves in this book.  I loved how the author gave us the closure we needed with all our characters as well.  Oh my gosh, Tanner needing Sloan's daughter to like him.  I love it!  I love Tanner and Camden and Booker, and all of this family!  I was unsure with the first book of how I would feel about audiobook narrator Will Watt doing Gareth's character, because he just wasn't of the same personality type that I kind of associated that voice with, funny, sarcastic, etc.  Gareth was just too much of a brooding guy.  While Gareth was still his broody self in this sequel, he became the type of guy that I can actually now picture listening to Will Watt narrating.  So, I may be going back and giving these books a listen at some point in the future.

I could go on and on, but you really just need to read these books.  And I will get over there not being anymore Harris brother stories, right?
