Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where we spotlight upcoming releases that we're eagerly awaiting. Once again I've chosen what looks to be a standalone novel. It's another author that I've enjoyed at least one other book by, Jeff Hirsch. I read and enjoyed his book The Eleventh Plague. I did get to meet this author, I believe at BEA 2012. But I haven't read his other books yet. This one sounds more like the one I have read, and therefore more up my alley. Here is the blurb from Goodreads:
Seventeen-year-old Cardinal has escaped the virus that ravaged his town, leaving its victims alive but without their memories. He chooses to remain in the quarantined zone, caring for a group of orphaned kids in a mountain camp with the help of the former brutal school bully, now transformed by the virus into his best friend. But then a strong-willed and mysterious young woman appears, and the closed-off world Cardinal has created begins to crumble.
A thrilling, fast-paced work of speculative fiction for teens, from a bestselling author, Black River Falls is an unforgettable story about survival, identity, and family.
So it sounds pretty interesting, the little bit that is there. And definitely an attention-grabbing cover. What book are you eagerly awaiting this week?
