Blog Tour Author Interview with Giveaway: Love Scene, Take Two by Alex Evansley

Book info:
Title:  Love Scene, Take Two
Author:  Alex Evansley
Published by: Swoon Reads
Publication date: June 12th, 2018
Genres: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult
Synopsis:
Debut author Alex Evansley delivers a sweet summer romance in this inventive novel about a young heartthrob and teen author falling in love.
Teddy Sharpe is kind of famous. He might actually be on his way to being really famous, especially if he’d nailed an audition for the lead role in the movie adaption of the newest bestselling young adult book series. There’s just one problem: He totally blew the audition. And he’s stuck in a tiny North Carolina airport. And his maybe-ex-girlfriend kind of just broke up with him.
The weekend isn’t exactly looking good until Bennett Caldwell, author of the very book series he just auditioned for, takes pity on him and invites him to her family’s lake house. Away from the glitz and glam of Hollywood for a few days, Teddy starts to relax . . . and somehow he and Bennett just click. But dating is hard enough when you aren’t the subject of several dozen fanblogs, and the Internet is full of juicy gossip about Teddy and Bennett . . . gossip that Bennett might not be prepared to handle.
Chosen by readers like you for Macmillan’s young adult imprint Swoon Reads, Alex Evansley’s debut novel, written from both Bennett and Teddy’s perspectives, will have teens laughing, swooning, and falling in love along with these fantastically relatable characters.

Author Interview:
1.  What does your writing process look like? Do you know the whole story when you start?  Or do you just start writing and go with it (seat of the pants writing)?  If you plan it out, how do you do that?  Outline, notecards, post-it-notes, etc.?  Are you part of a writers group that gets together and helps each other with their writing?

    •    I really wish I had a consistent writing process, but it’s different every time. I pantsed the heck out of Love Scene, Take Two—I honestly didn’t know where it was going until I was at the end. On the other hand, I’ve also written stories with excessively in-depth outlines that involved grid paper Moleskines, 5x10 index cards, storyboarding, and using expo markers on a floor length mirror to write out scenes (don’t ask—that was a weird day lol). I’m not part of a writers group but I am working toward an MFA in Fiction Writing right now, and that experience alone has had an indispensable impact on my writing.

2.  How do you come up with your ideas for your stories?

    •     I’d say 90% of everything I’ve ever written has been strongly influenced by real life. Most of my ideas come from situations I’ve experienced (or wish I’d experienced) and I’ve noticed that my favorite ideas are the ones that I never would have thought of had I not been in the right place at the right time with the right people.

3.  How long have you been writing?

    •     The first fiction story I remember writing was in 4th grade Language Arts class, but I didn’t start writing on my own until about 6th grade.

4.  What tips do you have for aspiring writers?

    •    Learn the rules of writing now so you’ll know exactly how to break them later.

5. Can you tell us about how the Swoon Reads  process works?

    •     The coolest thing about Swoon Reads is that there’s no other imprint out there doing what they do. You upload your manuscript to their website; people read and comment and rate the story; and then books are chosen for publication from a mixture of crowdsourcing and the cool peeps up at Swoon HQ. I uploaded my story in April 2016, was offered a contract in July 2016, and it’s honestly been one of the coolest experiences of my life.

6.  What are your favorite:

    •    Books/authors/genres: Harry Potter, everything Rainbow Rowell has ever written, The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway, YA, romantic comedies, dystopian, and anything with magic!

    •    Movies/TV Shows: Game of Thrones, Friends, The Office, The Walking Dead, Zoey 101 (no shame), Gossip Girl, Silicon Valley

    •    Music: No joke, I love pretty much everything except for Pop Country and The Doors… But specifically, I love Mumford and Sons, Dave Matthews Band, Led Zeppelin, ODESZA, RAC, Taylor Swift, The Pretty Reckless, Cast Iron Filter, Coconut Records, The Black Keys, Stroke 9, Kid Cudi…if I don’t stop now, I’ll go on forever…

    •    Food/Writing snack: Goldfish and blue Gatorade
