Sunday Post #57 and Stacking the Shelves May 15th, 2016

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted  @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme.  May just keeps being busy!  I don't see a lot of let up until June when school is out.

Last week on the blog:
I reached my goal of two reviews a week again.  Also am keeping up with my discussion post challenge for the month.  I've had another week of International Baccalaureate testing in my library, so I've been able to get some blogging done while I have to sit and can't do much shelving or other things in my library that would make noise or disturb the students who are testing.  Of course that hasn't gone as fast as I'd like because of how slow the wifi can be in the library as well as the fact that I have to constantly get papers from the printer and go take them into the hall for the students who have printed.  I stayed on track with my exercise goal of walking twice a week.  If you remember, the week before last, I only got one day done, so this week I got three days done!  So that means I'm back on track towards reaching my goals!  I've just got to go twice this week and twice the week after that.  Then my reward is either a new Fitbit, or maybe a pair of Toms.  Haven't decided for sure.  This week was BEA, and I was sad not to get to go, but had fun watching the posts of all the bloggers who were there.  And I was excited to have a blogger friend who offered to try to pick up some books for me this year!  Mary over at Bookhounds and BookhoundsYA, has become a pretty good online friend, we kind of connected over our love of dachshunds.  I was very sad I couldn't get to BEA this year to meet her as well! If you have any thoughts about my Discussion post, I'd love to get some more discussion going on that.  Also, if you  haven't heard of, or joined my It's New to Me Challenge, you should click HERE to see if it is something you might be interested in.

This week on the blog:
  • Reviews:  7 New Adult Free E-book Mini-Reviews, Circle of Jinn by Lori Goldstein (FFBC Tour), The Star Touched Queen by Roshani Chockshi, and True Born by L.E. Sterling (YA Reads Book Tour)
  • Top 10 Tuesday:  Books picked up on a whim
  • Waiting on Wednesday
  • Cover Characteristic:  Silhouettes
This is going to be the last week of school.  Yay!  Four days with students, and then Friday is just teachers.  Thursday night is graduation.  I hate graduation ceremonies with a vengeance.  They are so boring.  If I wasn't at a high school as a librarian/teacher, I would refuse to go to any more graduations.  At least until my now four year old niece gets to that age.  It will be another week of IB Testing in the library still, so I will have some time to work on blogging.  I also don't work at all this week so will have most evenings to work on my blog as well.  As my first review up there states, I have 7 reviews of free or cheap ebooks to share.  These are books that I can read through very quickly, so I am putting all of them in one big post for now. And I will probably continue doing that as long as I keep reading those.  I have downloaded the Kindle app to my Macbook laptop for school, and so during testing, when the wifi is being stupid, I will occasionally pull it up and read a bit.  I am so looking forward to this time next week, when school will be over for the year.  My co-librarian is retiring, and so this summer I will be able to go in and start doing things in the library that are more my vision of what the library should be.  I'm very excited for that.

And the biggest excitement of the week?  Planet Comic-Con is next weekend. Friday night I have a VIP ticket to see Kevin Smith in his show "An Evening with Kevin Smith."  I am such a huge fan of his that I can't wait.  Then, on Saturday, Tom Felton, AKA Draco Malfoy, is going to be there, and I cannot wait to meet him!  I've already paid to have my picture taken with him.  I will be sure to share those pictures with you afterwards!
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews.   I was probably a little bad with the free ebook downloads this week.  I also signed up for a free month trial of Kindle Unlimited to get to read some for free as well.  :-)
Physical Books:

The first book I got as a book for trade.  I was lucky to be on the Irish Banana Blog Tour for The Selection series to prepare for the release of The Crown, and so got a copy of the book from the publisher.  The bottom two are books that I purchased.  I listened to them on audiobook, and loved them.  And since I'm going to meet the author at NOLA StoryCon in September, I had to buy the actual books to get them autographed.

E-galleys:

So I did get the first one, or at least found it available on Edelweiss last week.  However, when I saw it become available on Netgalley, I went ahead and got it over there for sure, to make sure that I would have it as the Kindle file, which doesn't seem to expire.  The other two above I got from Edelweiss this week. They are ones that I'm very excited for as well!

Free or Cheap Nook books:

 Free or Cheap Kindle books:

You kind of can see a theme in my free ebooks.  And I've actually already finished two of them.  And then there are two that I started, and may not finish. We'll see.  The last one, A Broken Us, I ended up buying for like $3.99, because the first book ended in such a cliffhanger that I had to go on.  I'll probably end up paying the same amount for the rest of the books in the series, even as they will be the story of other people in the first two books.

So that is what I added to my shelves, both physical and virtual.  What books did you collect this week?
